THE WATERCOOLER

I wish insomnia was my problem... Sadly my schedule has me up at ten to six and home around seven or eight with about ten hours of work left to do. It's nice to have people wanting things from you, but seriously... a schedule like that isn't life-sustaining.

PS: CCG - I totally hear you on the visa thing. Life is getting more complicated with passport issues (and dare I mention the exchange rates?). And I'm committed to another 2 years abroad.

Hi, and welcome to Lit! Newcomers are always welcome. Ask and I'll be happy to show you around!

<pouring a paper cup of water>

Tastes a bit stale, doesn't it?

Yeah, it's been a while since I came in here. There is dust everywhere:eek:, I'll have to air the place so nobody will suffocate.

Don't despair, I'll eventually be back....just as soon as my doctors get their acts together and find the right med/doses for me.

Suspecting my intention was mistaken

I am almost at a loss for words. You've shown me nothing but tolerance, compassion, kindness, and assistance which I am continually aware of and continue to love you for. I think so highly of your dedication and devotion to this on-line community of which you are such a basic part and I consider myself lucky to be a part of.

And I also know how emails can be misconstrued (recently had that happen at work).

Yes, I was poking fun at your intolerance of my aged idea of a "Welcome Mat" but I had intended to do so in a playful manner.

I'm so very sorry you're hurting and wish I could offer the consolation you once offered me at a dark time in my life.

Many apologies my jests caused you any pain and added t your misery.

I think I've missed a chapter here, I have absolutely NO idea of what you're talking about.:confused::confused:

As a measure of how much you mean to everyone around here, I received five emails today from people who knew I've been too busy to check in often and were concerned I might not see your post.

Be well soon.

I was trying to be funny and received a response that all is not well so I felt a bit humbled for not demonstrating greater compassion. Apparently I overreacted, which is not uncommon for me. All's well that ends well, I suppose.

Don't worry so much about what you say, sweetie; if and when you say something mean, nasty or uncalled for to me you'll be the first to know. In the interim, take a deep breath, count to ten and repeat after me:

I won't overreact, LadyC is beautiful, nice, kind and sweet and I'll send her all my paycheck from now on.:D Repeat that 10 times every time you feel the need to overreact and everything will be alright, I promise you.

I'll try (deep breath)...

LadyC is virtually beautiful, virtually nice, virtually kind, and virtually sweet. And I've already been sending my paychecks to LadyC but they keep coming back as "Unknown Address". Apparently IP addresses are not a replacement for ZIP codes, atleast at the time being.

Hmmm, I'm doing the math and the name Ashley Dupre comes to mind... shit, haven't had a 22 y/o honey in quite some time (if ever)...

Heelo, Emperor Club...

I'm just posting to give extra special hugs to LadyC. :rose::kiss::rose:

I just discovered that a piece you edited for me is in the running for the annual awards. I've rarely been this excited. I've never had anything nominated before.

So thank you thank you thank you very much.

I'm glad for you, Jen:rose:. I haven't been present on the boards lately and I'm quite out of the loop concerning the yearly contest.

Congratulation, babe; you deserve it.

Thank you  Though I am a bit concerned that I might only have gotten this nomination because I flashed my boobs and all. Eh, I'll take it.

The final voting just started a little bit ago, from what I know (you're nominated too, if you didn't know, so congrats to you as well ).

<Hospital sounds, hurried voices> We Can Save'em

I argued this with LadyC and, not surprisingly, lost. I wanted a thread titled "Welcome Mat" where newbies would be inextricably drawn.

Instead they're left wandering like zombies with no exact goal. LadyC was of the opinion that they would come here... why I have no idea! The fact that a few of us have to breathe life into this arena is proof of that itself!

And I'm still of the opinion that they wouldn't be more attracted to a "welcome mat" thread than they are of this one.

People come and go...people would still breathe life into another thread.

Yeah, I know. I just like to keep reminding you I'm still "in the house", lol. Hoping all is well with you and yours.

And if they really come, they owe the author a "5" vote before they go.

I hope you're feeling much better.

Unfortunately, not. I'm still a big ball of pain. The only I'm not in so much pain is when I'm heavily medicated and then I'm too loopy to do anything but stare into space and count the pieces of lint on clothes.

Damn! Not what I was hoping to hear.

I don't know whether the drug would be indicated for you but you might want to ask your doctors to consider prescribing fentanyl citrate, which does an outstanding job controlling severe pain but has far fewer side effects than oxycontin, dilaudid, and most other heavy-duty pain killers. I have a friend who has been taking it for about two years to control severe pain from a neurological condition that laughs at morphine or Demerol; it gives her tremendous relief and she has encountered almost no side-effects. I also took it for a week or so following orthopedic surgery (even though it's specifically not for post-operative pain) and it worked wonders. It might be worth looking into.

I'm crossing my fingers and hoping you can find something that will help without causing a lint census!

Unfortunately, this drug is no longer approved in Canada. I went to Health Canada website to see and the site says that it had been previously approved but they had to rescind their approval after an increasing number of patient had died after taking fentanyl.

Apparently, the gel contained in the patch was leaking and caused the drug to get into patients' system quicker than it was supposed to, therefore causing their death.

I'm on oxycodone at the moment and it's not making me happy at all. Oxycodone relieves some of the pain, but, the loopiness is greater than the pain relief, so I'm hoping he'll change it for something else.

Yeah, the transdermal patches gave some problems in the past--not the drug per se, but the delivery system--so the manufacturer came out with a transmucosal version That's the version I was thinking of. (You might feel a bit silly sucking on a plastic-sticked "lollipop" like a six year old, but it works like a charm.) I haven't heard of any problem with this form except, tragically, when little kids get hold of a parent's medication and think it's candy.

They "suckers" dissolve within about five minutes, and start working even faster.

I'll look into it. I'm seeing my doctor tomorrow, I'll discuss it with him. So far, what I've read, seems to suggest that the "pop" is much more effective and much safer than the patch. We'll see if my doctor think I'm suffering enough to allow me to "upgrade" meds. As if the doctor knows better than me how much pain I have.
