Ropework photos

Can I clarify cupcake is where the rope encircles the breast individually, right? If so, I can't do a cupcake tie as my breasts are too small :( I personally like a really nice tight 'Pearls' tie. I think a cupcake (if I understand it correctly) could be more problematic in terms of tissue or nerve damage.

Cupcake does have a bit more of a chance of tissue damage.

We use a halogen bedside light for a lot of our pics. It can create a harsh light but you can diffuse it a bit with a bit of muslin draped in front. This one below was with just the straight light:

Nice pic! How do you drape the muslin without getting heat issues?

Ta!

We don't use it directly over the light source, though halogen doesn't get as hot as tungsten so you could just drape over the light itself for a short time. We tend to just have it clipped onto available hooks in the the ceiling.

Another way to diffuse the light is to stick a cigarette paper or a bit of tissue over the light. This also works really well if you want to diffuse the light from a camera flash as well. If you really get into photos (and lets face it ropework pictures are always amazing!), then you could invest in a collapsable set of diffusers/reflectors. They aren't too expensive unless you go for lastolite ones.

I actually really like the shadows you get from direct light though, and you can always soften it a bit digitally.

Woo Hoo!

Count me in on that one, viv! I'll bring along Raven's black walnut and we'll have us a PARTY!!! :nana:

Wrong!!! My black walnut will be there though. As you said Homburg, she will be within an arms length very soon. I am very interested to know if you would want to do some of your great rope work on her because I think it might be a very good thing.

Some good ideas, thank you. I really need to work on my photography more. It's just tough to juggle tie, scene, and camera all at the same time.

Absolutely. Sprinkles and I have been friends for as long as I've been on Lit. I look forward to it. I've got an idea of what portion of the demo she will be helping me with.

Can't remember whether I asked you before...does your camera have an otional remote control? I have one which came with the remote control and though I keep meaning to try iot out I still haven't even though I've had the camera a couple of years. Part of it is I have to take another attachment off which I bought to enable filters, for the remote to be usable, but it is becoming more and more an attractive idea for when we are here alone as F is just not that into taking photos but wants them anyway.

Unfortunately, no. I checked. I also checked to see if it can use an external flash. Nope. It has a lens adapter for filters and such, but none of those cool widgets.

I am seriously having to avoid grabbing a chunk of my tax return and buying a digital SLR that will have these features :p

That sounds fine. Please drop me a PM with your ideas.:D

You don't have to go to that expense if you don't have it right now. Though Canon now have the G7 and G9, I would seriously consider buying a G6 if you are looking as it not only comes with the infrared remote in the pack (unlike the G7 & G9 which don't), but also is possible to use an external flash with. It's the one I had before the EOS 400D (Rebel in US), and I still use it a lot. Another good feature (which isn't available with SLR's) is it has a flip out LCD screen which you can move to various angles including pointing to the front of the camera so if you want to be in the shot and you're eyesight allows for it, you can see how you are lined up and use your remote control to take the pic. Takes great shots (including macro) and I think you can buy it new in the US around $330 or so and the money you save could go into a tripod and flash unit.

Does low light without flash well also...

That's actually an idea. I don't really care about swapping out lenses. I just want to be able to use external flash to be able to play with my lighting. My necessary objective range is limited, and I just don't need too awful much capacity for zoom, etc.

The G6 isn't in production anymore, apparently. They've a few similar offerings that looked hot though. Hmm.

Thanks for the tip.

We use a G5 which is actually even older and not as good and get great results though Mr TRB much prefers film so the 'serious' stuff gets done thatta way. The Flip out screens are really useful I think and even on the G5 the quality is pretty damn good because they have proper lenses (or something, I turn off wen it gets too techie!).

Really though, you could actually use a camera phone and get good pics because it's in what is in front of you and how you angle and frame it as well as light it. Catalina's pics above are a good example using off centre diagonals. If there is enough movement for the body to twist slightly I think it looks better than just straight on pics.

In terms of not allowing the photography to intrude on the session, we do it after I'm tied up and it then becomes almost like.... dunno, foreplay? I like him to take pictures after release of the rope marks as well.

I'm slowly learning what I like in a photo. It's tough when I'm working on so much else in the scene. And, honestly, when my mind is on the normal five million things it is on during scene (position, tie, how long it has been on, her breathing, skin response, skin colour, etc, etc), recall is limited. I notice everything, but don't have time to retain much.

This is Mark of DV8 House (awesome rigger from Down Under) tying Lani. Mark is an excellent hand at the ropes, and Lani is a joy to watch.

Hot scene. No clue how long it will be up though, as it involves full nudity. The video has too many cuts and effects though =P

Why is that?

Really, really fucked up joints. Also at 43 I ain't as limber as I used to be :( I can handle about 30 mins in ties that have my knees bent and legs flexed, a bit longer for straight body stuff, but it takes me a day or two to recover full movement.

Or were you asking why I want to marry the guy in hte vid? :D

Ouch, sorry to hear that. If you want some unsolicited advice, 1500mg of Glucosamine and 6g of fish oil each day. It's the combo I use to keep my dorked up joint moving smoothly.

i meant dancing in the rope, but suspension is pretty cool too, i can deal with theat

Well, I figured you wanted to learn how to dance, and that meant I would need to learn that style of tie =P

Wish I could afford to go to shibaricon this year. I've had a coupla really solid riggers offer to show me all sorts of cool things =(
