The photo I was going to stick on was too big though and when I go to edit it just keeps coming up that the owner no longer gives permission for the photo to be used!

I'll let one of the Smart Boys address that. I'll probably be in upload hell myself soon.

I'm just here to serve the drinks. What'll ya have?

*hunting around for goth pix, but see, none of them are actually on the computer or in my possession*

eta: this is playing in the shop right now and there's no one here. Guess who's dancin' around like an idiot.

Did you save it to your hard drive first? If so, then you can resize it in whatever photo-editing program you have. Most printer/scanners come with some sort of photo-editing program if you don't have something like Photo Shop. And I'm pretty sure you can resize files in Microsoft Paint, too.

;) beej — the way you are currently posting photos — by directly linking to a website that has the photo — is against forum rules. I remember Lauren telling someone off for this — MTVM I think it was. You can't just wrap the URL address in IMG tags as you're doing.

You are only allowed to post photos that you've uploaded to some photo hosting site, like Photobucket or Image cave, from your computer. A moderator can probably explain why, but I don't know the reason. It's probably something to do with spammers or maybe copyright issues.

So if you want to post a pic of Charlton Heston or Claudette Colbert, just download them first, then upload them to an Image hosting site, and go from there.

Oh yuck blurk spit Ouzo ..... my pet hates aniseed and liquorice.
Not sure I have any of those things for editing but the size of the pic is fine in any other ways I use it online it's just on here it comes up huge perhaps the pixels need changing and that is beyond me if I ever need anything reducing i.e for avatars I ask a friend but I don't like to keep asking him to do it

Are illustrated poems done the same way?

Yes — though you need to save the poem as a jpeg not as a pdf.

BTW there are free tools that you can get for resizing images but you may not want to get that far into it. If the size of your file is between 500kb and 1mb it should post ok.

oh lord now you have lost me what's a pdf?
The image does post but it's huge and not wanting to inflict my face in all it's gory glory on the public who have done nothing to have such purgatory inflicted upon it ... I deleted lol

These are file extensions - .pdf .gif .jpg .bmp - which designate what program actually built the file on your computer. Lit likes some better than others.

When you save a pic to your hard drive, you can choose the way windows stores it and what program will open it for you. jpg file extensions open in almost all programs and are most common, thus, you can find online edit sites that will allow you to manipulate the image and resize it as you want.

Just use the help feature of your photo program to discover how to resize pics on your computer, you'll be creating illustrated poetry before you know it. Another note of interest, MSWord allows you to import pic files to your document. Lit allows you to upload .doc files as a submission... it becomes very easy to create illustrated pieces for lit.

There's a wonderful freeware program available online called GimpShop, which is a clone of Photoshop (but free an easier to use), which allows extremely simple resizing, and saving images to all the various formats. I use it extensively in my work, and it can be complicated like photoshop, but for simple resizing, it's a snap. I'd be happy to walk UYS (or anyone else) through the steps. Also, posting to Photobucket, then using it to host pix for Lit is a snap--just a one-click operation.

The Crossroad of Conversation and Prayer.

Hey, Life?
I know that we
haven't been the best
of friends lately,
and I've been pretty down on you.
But, well, you've been
real exciting the past few days,
and, wow, I'm grateful.

I'm a little tired though,
and my emotions are worn
pretty
thin.
So can I just have this?
Can I enjoy this? Please?

I know I'm not
usually allowed to have
anything
good in my life
come easy,
but,
maybe,
just this once,
you can let me just have one.

See, I need this.
I need to not fail at this.
This is the hardest thing I've ever done,
and I'm as scared
as I think I've ever been.

So, please,
I've been paying for this
for a long time.
Please, just let me have it.

For at least a little while.
I'll do the work
on my own to
handle the long-term.

Thanks, really. I'm
not used to saying that.

I owe you one.
-Roy. "

Damn, Homburg!

nicely spoken.

And I love the Gothic Lisa. The drink sounds pretty wiggy, but I'd try one. Or Two.

I am paying the wages of sin today, scrambling through huge piles of paper that ostensibly record my various purchases and expenses throughout 2007. I really shouldn't have left a years' worth of accounting til the first week of April, but y'know...

I blame Lit. Y'all have been so beautifully distracting.

Umm.... I think I missed something... but:

Laugh and live, love, forgive
Eat and drink as well.
Hurts recall, tears will fall,
Like me, under your spell.

Not great, but heartfelt.
