The Construction Thread

no we didn't use vice grips, we spent the $$$ on the tool

it is really easy, the BF does it all
i watch and golf clap him and tell him he is doing a really good job

he is playing the plumber, but thankfully without the asscrack
and it only costs me blowjobs to pay him

Ok, as long as you have the correct tools to get the job done, you're golden.

But please, before you put the sub flooring down. Do me one favor. because it'll be a pain in the ass to fix once the flooring is down.

Please PLEASE make sure your drain pipes has a pitch of 1/8 of an inch per foot, all the way to your 4 inch main line.

Truct me, you'll thank me in 10 years because you've had no problems.

You should be fine with that, though borderlining at a little too much. But as long as you've used sweeps and full wyes hooking everything up. I dont foresee a problem at all.

And please tell me you went with 2 inch instead of 1 1/2. with proper venting. And not that black Pos ABS.

Hey! we only use ABS out here! No choice.

Outside clean out plugs for easy access. It will be worth it.

Tell BF he had better get to work or no reward!

Venting.

Okay. I of course have no idea what kind of a run you have with the new drain lines. But I do hope you you've put in a proper vent line for 1.5 inch.

Sweeps are wide turns oppose to tight turns on the line. Meaning that it's easier for the water and what not to travel through the line.

Full wyes is pretty much directional hook ups in my terminology, which would be what you use to hook up to the existing Pipes.

Tight turns and tight wyes can, over time, accumulate waste in the pipe.

Thats the reason I ask.

Around these parts, ABS is what we see in trailers. And I ahve seen enough for this enviroment to say, that it is not made to withstand the flux in the weather around my parts.

PVC or nothing at all.

no tight turns, all straight and one 90, and one 45
we used a neoprene coupling adapter to go from the 1.25 iron to the 1.5 pvc

the new washer drain will tie in to the existing shower drain and they said that will be ok as a vent

Ok let me get this staright then. You're running new pipe to an existing 1.25 pipe?

And in doing so, what is the existing run of the old pipe, before you hit the main drain, you know that big 4 inch drain pipe?

And what means of connecting to it, have you used?

Gimme a good reason as to why?

Prolly because it's cheap and easy. I haven't looked into it. You'll see PVC used on outside drainage, like for septic systems. But inside, you'll see ABS for drainage. I only pretend to be a plumber when I need something done around the house.

Did you call for Mr. Plumber?

gimem a minute i will take a pic

It was the states choice when these product came out. The unions were very opposed to anything but metal and when they finally relented they picked one over the other. ABS has it's faults like anything else and I don't care what I use.

The problem you're seeing is that the new washing machines discharge so much water so quickly that it may backup.

Bottleneck?

Ok, In my experience ABS is not as sturdy as PVC and will even when porperly supported greate bellies and bows over time. Not that I ahve ever been in an ABS plumbed house where anyone actually supported anything to code.

And it better not be PVC going FROM a septic tank, more than maybe 3 feet, before its perforated pipes.

I see a discharge from a washing machine without the proper venting, to be a problem.

25 gallons or more in about a minute is a lot runing through 1.5 to 1.25. Not to mention the existing pipe, which is metal, probably have some jags in it with some wear and it'll catch the lint and could potentially create a build up.

The local plumbing inspectors are pretty thorough. Mine seems to work just fine.

Just some samplings of my "Yard Farmer" work. I've laid somewhere in the neighborhood of 60 ton of natural limestone on this property.

Metal deterioates faster than anything. ABS bows and turns over time, as well as PVC will do. BUt it takes about 10 more years before PVC will do it, at least compared to what I ahve seen.
