As for nice guys finishing last...I guess I have to ask how you define a nice guy. I work very hard to be a nice guy, but I have a backbone. I fight for nice in a very pleasant way . I try not to let my ego get in my way or let others get their's in my way as well. I like surprising people with a smile when others get angry and a helping hand when others walk away. Just my way of surviving a very interesting world...

Hi Stryder! Hope you are doing well this evening. I agree. There is a difference to being a "nice guy", one who has no backbone, to one who is just a really great man. I think it comes down to respect, along with self-respect.

Ok so I will admit to being lazy, at least for now, like Stryder (who seems like a nice guy) and not read through this thread. But I will offer some quick comments.

I don't know if nice guys finish last, but great lovers certainly do. Or at least make it a tie!

Seriously though, nice guys do NOT finish last. Neither are they doormats. Part of what makes a man a nice/great guy is one who is willing to stand up for himself or anyone else. That's what makes them nice and unselfish isn't it? Nice men, or women for that matter, are willing to reach out and be kind to others without always looking for a self serving purpose. Nice guys, and the women that fall for them, are also not willing to accept less than what they know they deserve. Holding your ground, principles or expectations are what set those people (men or women) apart.

As always, IMO.

The guys that actually have a future and aren't willing to throw it away in a bar fight, simply have to wait patiently for their turn - that is, to wait until she's totally used up by the jerks and she finally comes around to them - carrying all their emotional baggage, of course. Then, being a good man, he chivalrously carries their baggage, with a smile, because if he didn't, he'd be stuck with Soup for One while she goes crawling back to another Dangerous Idiot.

The Dangerous Idiot gets her in her prime. The good man gets her when she's waning and her sexual marketability is sinking and she needs someone who is 'sensitive' to look after the Dangerous Idiot's progeny.

Look at all the stepdads of the world. How many of them do you think are Dangerous Idiots? DI's won't even stay around for all this baggage - they're off hittin' it like John Gotti! Those stepdads... they're Mister Good Man, the schmuck, the rock of salvation that her wrecked spiritual ship has smashed up against in hopes of not sinking at sea.

Women can screech about how this is not true, but take an empirical look at who the vast majority of the stepdads of the world are. Look at the majority of single moms who aren't widows. Look at the guys that teenage girls date, and then the guys that they date in their 40s.

Sex is a numbers game, man. Be the flashy knave that women want to change and you get women when they're young and beautiful and fertile. Be the stable, smart, intelligent dude, and you get her when she's all used up.

If you have a son, fuck off with the sensitive new age shit and the feminist shit and for sure, ignore what women say. Watch what women do. When you're done watching, you'll know you need to:

a) Pump your son full of human growth hormone. Height matters a HELL of a lot. Tall men get laid more.
b) Put him in sports and put his back to the sea - sports or bust. Show him all the benefits of being a quarterback and getting laid: it's the fucking truth, so show him.
c) Make him work out like hell. Not all women fall all over themselves for a chiseled body, but life is a numbers game: and the numbers STRONGLY favor you in the mating game if you're hella ripped.
d) Make him learn about finance. A rich man is not necessarily attractive to all women, but mating is a numbers game and wealth wins the numbers game.

If you are successful in those endeavors, your kid can't lose.
