not for a second.

So people arriving at the bistro today notice a note scrawled in left-handed lipstick on the bar mirror. It says:

tuesday is usually bistro leg-humping day. I would not do justice to it with my limited typing. Volunteers are welcome if anyone's inspired.

but really, every day is leg-humping day at the bistro.

specials:
a spicy dish
Fresh seafood *vive Lamour*
a la carte or with the sides.

For connoisseurs, we have excellent Darjeeling, and a selection of biscuits.

(a scrawled signature, preceded by crooked symbols of various sorts)

Welcome to the world of the left-handed. Have you done any writing (on paper, I mean)? Have you noticed how your left hand drags and schmears the pencil/ink? And don't even get me started on scissors! (And yeah I know they sell notebooks and scissors for lefties. I'm way too absent-minded and lose stuff constantly, so I refuse to buy those kind of things anywhere but the dollar stores.)

Who else here is left-handed? I think quite a few of us. We had a thread about it once. Liar? I think he is. I forget who else.

When i try to write with my left hand I don't get far enough to worry about smearing ink. It is thoroughly unintelligible. and slow. and really funny to watch.

I tried scizzors yesterday. hilarious!

I too write left handed, but am ambidextrous. I manage to tilt the paper so that I don't smear the ink. :D

Lucky for me I can use regular scissors, but wholeheartedly agree on the notebook thing.

which hand do you use for your mouse does it affect that ......... do you knit that must be a problem if you do? promises not to call either of you cack handed!

I actually knew a guy years back who did a study on "handedness" or "brain dominance" (well which side is, lol, not that you have a dominant brain, except yknow like Homberg :D ). Anyway this guy studied like 50 or 60 different body actions, everything from which hand you use a fork with to which foot you kick a ball with and many, many more. And he found that almost everyone he tested was evenly divided between left and right, which challenges the whole left-brained, right-brained thing.

But UYS to answer your question my computer mouse is on the left, so I mouse with my left hand. In my feeble attempts at knitting and crocheting (and everything I've ever made looks like it was designed for the Hunchback of Notre Dame), I use my left hand, but when I play guitar (another of my totally lackluster skills), I pick with my right hand and do chords with my left.

Lol! Cack handed! I may have to change my title. :D

My left and right brain halves occassional wrassle for supremacy. It's fun to watch, even if the top-rope splashdowns cause vertigo...

There's some interesting work on this done by shooters. The theory in question is that each person also has a dominant eye. And that it doesn't matter whether you are left-handed or right-handed, you're best off learning to shoot with the proper eye than you are with you dominant hand. I personally shoot pistol about as well left as I do right, and it is largely because I am marginally left-eye dominant. Utterly hopeless with a long gun on the elft arm. Can't even hold it right.

I am otherwise semi-ambidextrous. I can write intelligibly, though not nicely, with my left hand, and spar/fight both standard lead and southpaw interchangably.

Psst

the Cock is in rare form today.

Oh geeze.

(My favourite line from that post is "Hole. Digging. Stop." for some reason :D )

I am right-handed but left-eyed.. although
I golf right
I shoot hockey left
and I can fire a rifle with either hand
I just can't close my left eye so without an eye-patch, I'm pretty much useless shooting right.

arrrrr ... (that's my pirate coming to the fore. I wear a patch so I can whip it off in the dark and be lethal with a sword... avast!)

I am so staying on your good side. That's left, right? Left?

I must be left-eyed. My right eye has always been weaker, in terms of prescription. And when I use a non-digital camera, I always put it to my left eye. I can write with my right hand if I really try, but it looks like crap. Actually, my handwriting has always been pretty awful with my left hand, too. I sing the praises of the keyboard. :D

Ok. I am off to snuggle up to eagleyez. It's cooold here tonight and that man is a furnace.

Sweet dreams, all.

Yes, and I write upside down. To be expected from me.

Okay, I know all about the left-handedness. I hate when the pen ink gets all over my hand, but I have found a certain type of pen that does not smear. Unfortunately, it comes from a vendor and no one else can get them. But most scissors have the holes the same size now, so you can use them with either hand. And my son is learning to shoot, but I am no help to him, because he is a righty.

I have gotten SO many dates off the the whole radiant warmth thing.

Mine is "Lighten up, Francis."

totally stealing that.

bj

Oh feel free. I love that line. It's gotten to the point where my buddy AP just stares daggers whenever I mention that phrase.

My Ron used to be my cuddly hot water bottle till they put him on stuff to thin the blood alas and alack it also cooled him down ..... sigh .....

I used to know which eye was my weakest but now without my varifocals I am as blind as a bat in both eyes and I forget which was the strongest one could be the left because that's my shooting one, mind you if I close the left to shoot it just seems I am looking in the wrong direction anyway ... perhaps it wanders off on it's own lol.
Hey Champ does that mean you can't wink with your left?

<snip> Hey Champ does that mean you can't wink with your left?
Yep, it does. I can't wink, attractively... I can squish up my face and pretend my right eye is open when I squeeze my left lids together but I must admit, it's not very effective. I'm surrounded by people who can wink with both eyes annnnd/or raise one eyebrow independently of the other. I have a secret source of pride through facial antics though... I can touch the tip of my nose with my tongue. :p

But it is the guy that can part his eyebrows with his tongue that get the real attention.
