Just scanning my email, found a message from AusBDSM. Apparently Australian perverts with a tenacity for kinbaku are doing the major covet thang for superior quality yachting and marine ropes. I saved an advertising image for you. I still want to see/feel Italian cashmere though myself, I read about it some while back, the notion has yet to leave me.

Prices seem a bit out there, wonder what they breaks down into usable lengths, I don't do math. Unless I am forced to.

Bit rich for my blood. The premium ropes might be different, but the regular stuff in the marine speciality stores hereabouts is pretty rough stuff. It's pretty, but it does not turn a swell as hemp or nylon, and is not as forgiving on the skin. Pretty fast brun rate from what I've sen.

Then again, the stuff I've priced was NOWHERE near this spendy, exchange rates included. This stuff looks pricier than treated hemp.

For example:

CHALLENGE BRAID -- SIZE: 6MM -- COLOUR: WHITE /WITH YELLOW FLK -- ROLL SIZE: 100M -- ORP $1000.00

The original price works out to AUS$10 per meter, or a bit more than AUS$3 per foot. Given exchange rates, that means a little less than $3 a foot. I can get treated and dyed hemp for about $1/foot, and that's not a particularly good price. And that's prbaby 2-3 times what marine-grade rope out of local stores costs. So this rope must be truly fantastic, or just tuly expensive. I'd love to get hands on it, and I do like the look. It's make for awesome nautical-themed bondage =)

I've heard of cashmere rope. Though I've heard that it is opposite of what I would think. Instead of being soft like a cashmere sweater, it apparently has more bite, and holds knots really well. Also marks better.

The rope I would love to get a hold of is German 4-strand golden flax from Monk. That's supposed to be amazing rope. And it comes with a similarly amazing price tag...

If I recall correctly it was a limited addition type thing. Just adding to the significant portfolio of information presented on this thread more than anything. You know your stuff Mr Homburg, I wouldn't 'presume'.

I heard about it on Graydancer's ropecast, actually (and I'm still not caught up on those). It was a limited edition. The limited stuff is another reason I dig TwistedMonk. They carry the coolest kit.

Thanks, caz! I've gotten to the point where I can speed-tie these things. I do them so often that it's becoming one of my most common ties. In fact, that was one of the thigs that TH marvelled at. She was impressed at how fast it went. I think all three ties took less than two hours, and that was with smoke breaks, discussion, technique demo, explanation, etc.

I wish I could've done more, but, alas, it was not in the cards.

On unhappier news, the chap that was hosting these events has flaked on us. He's not going to hold them any more, or at least for the time being. So we're left venue-less for now. We're brainstorming for another space we can use, so we'll see how that goes. Fortunately, the majority of bunnies that have shown in these shoots are people that I know independently of these parties, so hopefull I will still be able to work with them.

That said, Odds are good that there will be an infusion of great photos coming up. I'm pretty sure this weekend will produce some fantastic shots. I certainly hope it will. I've got some ideas that should be fun, and some stuff that may appeal to a different segment of the audience. We'll see how it works out, and we'll see how much time we have over the weekend to realise these ideas.

And, no, I'm not trying to tease you guys. I'm just not sure what all is going to be happening this weekend, and I don't want to make promises that I won't be able to deliver on.
