Fantasy Football - Keeper League

Again, they won't be taking over a team. Abandoned teams will be deleted and new ones issued to new managers.

And the rest of us will be at a disadvantage in the draft?

I just think a new manager should take over an existing roster. First come first served. Then they choose keepers and away we go.

Explain the disadvantage. Pre-2008 draft, you'll have your three keepers, essentially your picks in rounds 1, 2 and 3. Pre-2008, new teams will get the choice to pick whom they want in rounds 1, 2, 3.

I remember last night you had mentioned giving new teams extra draft choices. That's where I saw the disadvantage.

Jesus. The field in Cleveland is snow!

There are no extra draft choices for new teams.

I've re-posted my original post on the subject below. It's merely skewed in the first three rounds to compensate of existing teams' three keepers, essentially their picks in rounds 1, 2 and 3.

Re-post: New teams will get the first picks in each of the first three rounds, after which the draft order will revert to the typical snake-draft order. So, assuming three new teams and we stay with a 16-team League with 3 Keepers each, in the first three rounds they'll get picks #1, #2, #3, #17, #18, #19, #33, #34 and #35. Draft order for existing teams will be in the reverse order of the prior year's standings.

Cool. No big deal. Personally I just think there's more continuity to the league if new managers take over existing rosters, choose keepers and then we all go forward to a draft.

Okay so as I understand it... the abandon teams (or teams with players who opt out for the next year)... all the players on these teams will be returned to the free agent pool... the new owners will get the first first picks in the first 3 rounds of the draft. The continuing players will draft in reverse order of their finish this season, so the last place team will pick right after the new owners in the first round... but will snake to the last place in the second round and in the third round will have the first draft pick after the new owners? ... What happens after the first 3 rounds of the draft? Where and how are the draft places for the new owners determined?

This seems complicated but essentially fair to everyone.

I'm just about willing to declare my own team abandoned to have a chance at some of the final cuts from other teams.

Starting with Round 4, the new teams will draft at the end of the snake - the 14th, 15th, and 16th positions - and in reverse order of how they picked in the first three picks of Round 1. As to how I'll determine the order of the first three picks of Round 1, I'll figure I'll pick a number between 1 and 100 and they'll guess for it.

Complicated, yes, but that's what Excel is for. Incidentally, I'm toying with a spreadsheet that would allow for the trading of draft positions - this will be more of a 2009 season thing. It would automatically populate once a season ends and would reflect any off-season draft position trading. Grandiose...perhaps...but if I could build it, I'm thinking I could shop it to all the other KL Commishes out there.

Now that sounds killer!

Congrats to Sylph for kicking my butt this past weekend.

Ya know, like a fucking douche, I was sitting here tee-heeing about the snow coming down in Cleveland. About 12:55 I stopped when I realized it was going to fuck me really hard. And like a bigger douche, I didn't even think to start a D playing in a fucking blizzard. I suck, and deserved to lose.

And thanks to Islandman for Commishing us people. FYI, the season is the easy part.

I still don't know how I won any fucking games this year. I still look at my team and think it sucks. I have to find 3 keepers off that beast somehow.

Thank you...I have actually been on vacation and not really managing my team very well which is likely why I actually won:eek:

Congrats

Congrats Islandman on taking the championship. I still can't believe I came in second, it will be my first ever yahoo sports trophy ..Yippee!!!!

:)

Yeah well I have this thing where my teams tend to suck, or finish in 4th place

How long until baseball...?

You forgot your 2006 hockey trophy... 2 trophies out of 10 teams managed is pretty good. Cheffie has managed 80 teams hence the disparity.

Thanks, Sylph...thanks everyone! It was a great season and I want to thank everyone for participating.

Teams are now locked. Feel free to trade amongst yourselves.
