Hello, back at all of you. It's starting to feel like winter, eh?

I have some advice, to perk up the thread a bit. First, while I suppose some of you are feeling shy, you'll get a lot more response if you have pictures handy, particularly if you include one as an avatar. Until you've got 100 posts the forums don't allow that, though, but you can add one to your profile in the meantime....

OR you can store some free at photobucket and provide links to them, maybe in your signature line.

OR you can start a thread over in AmPics and point people there. It doesn't have to be terribly revealing (mine never reveals my face, for instance) if you're shy, but it helps people see another dimension.

And that's the final piece of advice: "another dimension." People would USUALLY rather get to know somebody first, with or without the picture, and the best way to do that is in conversation, just like at a bar or a party. The best party here is either on the General Board (which can include a bit of a hazing when you first start posting there, but FIRST go read a bit and get a feel for it before you post) or the Playground, which is a BIT tamer, though some find it just too nice (but hey, that ought to fit with the whole Minnesota Nice thing, right?) Even the How To forum affords you the chance to have some real give and take...

In other words, go make some friends, and you just may find it leads to interesting opportunities.

For the record, due to the nature of the thread, DWM, Mpls suburbs. You can click on my name to find lots of posts by me (been here a long time) mostly on the GB, and there are other Minnesotans there as well -- though I do have one of the AmPic threads I mentioned.

Come on, you don't want to just sit in here reading all winter, do you? Come visit where there's real conversation going on!

Happy Nondenominational Winter Seasonal Greetings to the Land-o-Lakes crew!

I'm killing time waiting for the offspring to be delivered mid-morning from the ex's, sipping tea, and contemplating what CD to put on to enhance the holiday spirit. The stocking is hung, the presents are under the tree, I've read the news, the bird-feeder isn't getting much action... and if I start eating now I'll probably overdo it, so a little online distraction seemed ideal.

I hope those of you focusing on Santa today aren't getting lumps of coal, and that the rest of you are warm, happy, and enjoying the season.
