Is there a better way to search for new threads?

When I see that something is in the Fresh Stories section, I don't know if it has a new thread or someone just ranked a thread. So I look through the story map for a little red dot. For some of the really big stories, especially the ones with deep threads that make me scroll the window horizontally, this can be a pain.

Is there some a better way to look for new threads?

Go to the Advanced Search options, enter the story title under Keywords, click Show results as Threads, and Search. This will list the latest threads for a story. New threads will have Rating/Votes = 0.0/0. Threads with votes > 0 are those that have been voted on.

You can also leave the Keywords blank and get all recent threads.

I also use the Pseudonym field to search for all of my recent threads.

I've been trying that "Adv. Search" trick for weeks (if not months), & I sometimes still have to go several pages before the stories from the "Fresh" list show-up in the results.

Any other ideas?

It seems like what we really need are some improvements to CHYOO. From what I've read on the boards, that doesn't feasible.

To replicate the Fresh list, go to Advanced Search, and simply hit the Search button. This will perform a most recently-updated search on Stories, not threads.

Sometimes I do "View Source", search for the string "red" (doublequote-r-e-d-doublequote), and the second and following occurrences are next to new threads.

I tried to write up an alternate Cascading Style Sheet to extra-highlight the "red" items, but my CSS skill was not equal to the task. (Greasemonkey is another option for doing extra highlighting, for those with Firefox and moderate j-a-v-a-s-c-r-i-p-t skills).

(s-p-e-l-l-e-d out to avoid automatic censoring of the word)
Anyone else game to try?

That does refresh the "Fresh" list... But that's not what I'm wanting to do.

So, what are you trying to do? You haven't stated what you are looking for.

Like GB, I'm looking for the new threads in the stories that are on the "Fresh" list... Not looking to see what's on that list. (If I wanted that, I'd just read what's on the list on the page.)

Also like GB said, what we need are some improvements to CHYOO... Which appears unfeasible.

I said this before, but I wasn't very clear apparently.

Go to Advanced Search, just click on "Show results as Threads" and hit search. This will give you the most recent threads. The stories in that list will be the same stories as in the Fresh list. The only threads not from fresh stories will be those that were edited or approved, but not new or rated. Edited threads doesn't bump the "Fresh" flag.
