Venezuela has the largest proven petroleum reserves in the world, larger than Saudi Arabia. It is also very heavy oil so there are only two nations that developed the technology to handle the stuff, the US and Canada (oil sands). The Texas Gulf Coast refineries are configured to handle that sludge. Why would overthrowing Maduro lead to lower energy prices for American consumers?
Maduro, and Chavez before him, gutted their petroleum industry. Removing Maduro and his clowns would allow investment which would lead to production.
Then there's the issue of Venezuelan refugees. We have a problem with their criminal gangs here but those same gangs are destabilizing Columbia as well along with the 2 million +/- that swarmed there along with all the problems they bring with them.
It is in the United States best interests to help Venezuela return to prosperity. In 1980 the Venezuelan Bolivar exchange rate was 233 per US Dollar. Today you can buy a one million Bolivar banknote for $9.69 and that is with a profit to the seller, you can figure out what the current exchange rate is. That is what Chavez/Maduro have done to that nation.,
