I just wondered what the current story publication times were like. Sent a story in on 29th Oct and still in drafts

Thanks, was sending it from my sick bed at the time so forgot to press submit lolif it's in drafts you didn't submit it; it should show as pending if it's in the queue.
I had an edit sitting there for weeks. Submitted 4 new stories and the edit again on the same day.
The new stories are approved. the edit STILL hasn't.
Seriously annoying, why TF are edits SLOWER to approve than new stories? Get a diff of the original and new story, review the parts changed, click approve. Should be much faster than approving a whole new story...
They really need to re-consider empowering authors on this site to manage their works.
Edits pretty consistently take between three and four weeks to post.I had an edit sitting there for weeks. Submitted 4 new stories and the edit again on the same day.

I stand by my last statement:Because it's already up, and they are working on stories that aren't up. All resubs go to the back of the queue.
It encourages us not to submit crappy versions in the first place.Leaving crappy versions up because they can't prioritize easier and faster work that empower authors is a mistake IMO. Not saying they don't moderate it just not shoving it to the back of the queue.

The original story remains up while the edit is processed. It's not like readers aren't seeing the work. All they're seeing is the "crappy" work that someone was too impatient to edit properly before posting.I stand by my last statement:

Treat it like any other story first come first serve.
Up to 3 weeks on editsI had an edit sitting there for weeks. Submitted 4 new stories and the edit again on the same day.

It's encouraging me more not to submit anything at all to be honest. I had decided to give things a second chance but I'm shopping around and testing other platforms. I don't expect I'll post much more without seeing some sort of change to give me more control over my work, but this initial series was never going to be good anyways since it was my first dabble into the world of erotica.
Edits have always taken a lot longer to process, they always have.I had an edit sitting there for weeks. Submitted 4 new stories and the edit again on the same day.

Get the story right in the first place, submit the best copy you can, and there's no issue at all.Seriously annoying, why TF are edits SLOWER to approve than new stories? You really need to edit better. This is your problem, not the site's. Zero sympathy for wasting the site's time, then coming here to complain about it.They really need to re-consider empowering authors on this site to manage their works.

Your story is already up It isn't anyone else's fault; it wasn't correct, but yours. Not the other resubmitters, not the new story submitters, not Laurals. Wait, your turn.
I don't see a single good argument why an edit should have less or more priority than a new story being posted. Its faster to approve and review if they have a sane process so any argument its time consuming or takes away from other stories is a stretch. They really need to re-consider empowering authors on this site to manage their works.

You are both welcome to your opinion, I do see your point, but i disagree with it, and its assumptions are wrong.
I posted my first story that was edited and reviewed to my starting ability. I asked for feedback and received it. I then made further changes and further edits and submitted it. That sat for over 3 weeks, ignored. I tried resubmitting assuming an issue with the site and find the expectation is set that edits don't matter. Any ability to use this platform to iterate or improve my writing is limited by that, which I pointed out and you say is complaining I say is observing and stating the obvious but hey potato / potato. I'd say you're whining I have valid criticisms of the platform but that's equally unproductive.
Any ability to get feedback and make improvements beyond my personal editing abilities regardless of the amount of effort I put in is wasted using the platform. I can't share drafts for others review, so I have to post to the forum or elsewhere. So you accept the limitations of the platform and build your approach around it good for you, if you want to judge and criticize others for looking for something different and pointing it out, well go ahead but don't expect them to value the feedback, there is no good faith or benefit to listening to your whining back at me.

I suggested first come first serve for all submissions including both new stories and edits. I don't see a valid argument against this, just cherry picking new stories as supposedly more important. That inherently comes down to quantity over quality. Quality nearly always wins that argument, and when it doesn't things tend to get worse.
Now as for being a dick about it, that's a different story but hey, that's not my problem either so have fun with your wonderful personality! /ignore
I'm sure that was really frustrating, but also unfortunately by doing this you basically "gave up your place in line," and went back to the start of the edit queue.I asked for feedback and received it. That's correct. Lit's publishing system isn't a cloud word processor, it's not made for you to write and edit and collaborate, it's made to publish finished works.I can't share drafts for others review, so I have to post to the forum or elsewhere.
It's a nudging system to encourage self-editing and spending time and effort prior to publication rather than after.I don't see a single good argument why an edit should have less or more priority than a new story being posted.
I didn't ignore you just blue. I followed the guide I was linked to submit an edit.Well, I have a question, but since he ignored me, I don't see how he can answer me. If you resubmitted it, you pulled the one that was up, right? If you didn't, the title is the same; it'll never be published.

Lit provides a volunteer editor program, and the Editor forum is a good place to find editors and beta-readers who can help you look at a story before submitting it for publication.
Most writers use cloud document tools line Google docs, jf they want to share drafts with each other.

If edits had the same priority as new stories, it would dramatically cut down on how many new stories are published. There's a human worm bandwidth issue here, Lit has a very small team of admins who do a lot of the work manually.
There are other erotica hosting sites that let you edit your own stories instantly, and have little or moderating. If that's something you really want, you probably just need to go there. In my opinion though, the overall quality of work on those sites tends to be a lot lower, and the amount of spam and AI slop and poorly written chaff is much higher.
But I hope you find what you're looking for!

i wouldn't say I'm looking for a cloud word processor at all, but otherwise I do agree with what you are saying here.
Lit isn't what I was hoping it was/looking for, I was hoping there was the built in workflow for working with the community editors and improving/iterating over work. It's not, and it's both ok to accept that and not to accept that
I suggested recently in a discussion that we should pay per submission, to enable the site to hire more staff. That would improve the response time but also retain an incentive to get the editing right the first time. The suggestion wasn't met with universal acclaim....Lit isn't what I was hoping it was/looking for, I was hoping there was the built in workflow for working with the community editors and improving/iterating over work.
