If you are having a lengthy delay in publishing, please add the name of your story and when submitted here.

I posted a collaboration with my friend Candace a couple weeks ago and it hasn't been posted. I've tried resubmitting it but no bueno.

I suspect it's too good compared to my usual writing. I'm likely just going to post it elsewhere.

After months of waiting, resubmitting it four times, and getting no response at all since August 23, my story The Shadow of Valentir was rejected today because of alleged AI usage. I wrote this story in Dutch fourteen years ago, and spent a very long time translating it. I did resubmit it, adding a note asking them to point out exactly where they think I used AI. But if they reject it again, I’m honestly done with this nonsense. Because it makes no sense at all. If I wanted to use AI to write my stories, I wouldn’t need to publish them. I could just read them. So, yes… very disappointing.
I am also facing the same problem. I wrote two stories in Portuguese (my native language) and translated them with the help of online services. However, I have not received any response. My stories have remained in pending status. It's sad that non-english speakers are being barred from publishing because of a broken system (if this is indeed tha case).

Sadly the translation tools all use AI nowadays.

It doesn't make it any less unfair, especially for those (like me) that takes the writing craft seriously.
I don’t work for Literotica and I don’t make the rules. But I do sort of wonder why it’s unfair. I’m not able to write in Cantonese, for example. I don’t view that as unfair.

It's unfair because english is the default language in this site. If I publish it in Portuguese, no one will read. I might as well not publish at all. But that is not the point. If I publish here and get rejected because of AI, that's ok. I can publish somewhere else, as I have already done. What is infuriating is being stuck in pendind for ages, not knowing what is going on.

That’s kinda my point. If I wanted to publish to a Chinese language site, then I’d not use translation software, not least as it’s unlikely to cope with my lexicon. I’d have to either learn Cantonese (years of effort), or employ a highly-skilled translator. Or stick to writing in my native language.

If the site has a no AI policy - and we all know the detectors are very, very fallible - then it can’t make an exception for AI-translated works, can it?

What I find upsetting is when someone who is not a native English speaker tries to write in English without AI aids (probably a Herculean task) only to be pulled up as having used AI.

As a non native English speaker, I can tell you that writing in non English is not easy. I use the word editor tool which is less than perfect and the google doc editor tool/ both look for orthograph and grammar (some how).
One day for fun. I asked co-pilot to rewrite a paragraph and the output was infinitively greater and better than anything I could write. but I did not see myself in the writing.
I can feel the pain of @Nightaelf

So, I guess I just have to suck it up, then. Is this what you're saying?

But she’s done the hard yards of translating herself. That’s a real slap in the face.

That’s interpreting it very negatively. I guess I’m asking why you feel you should have access to the English market without learning to write English. I’m not trying to be adversarial, I’m asking.

I wrote this on another thread here a while back:

I recently read The Extinction Of Irena Rey, written by a translator and a story about a group of translators and their author. The artifice is even that the novel (written by an American lady) is translated from a Spanish one written by one of the other translators. It gives you an immense sense of the skill and love that human translators put into their work.

The author translates work from Polish and Spanish into English and from Polish to Spanish and vice versa. She’s a very good author too.

I do write fairly in English without help. I'm not an illiterate. But I need help at some point, and unfortunately for me, I don't have financial means to hire a professional translator just to publish sex stories for free. And the way you're saying, I feel you are trying to imply that just because I'm not a native english speaker I don't have the right to publish stories in an english website. Please tell me I'm wrong on this.

But, again, what bothers me is not the AI policy itself. As I have already said, I can publish my stories elsewhere, no problem. Even if others sites have fewer views, my stories there have more views than they have here. What bothers me is the lack of communication on this issue. Being stuck in pending status forever is very disrespectful to serious authors.

No, I’m saying nothing about this per se. But if your mechanism for translation is AI-based, and the site bans AI text, you can’t really expect an exception to be made.

You have no rights at all here (as I know only too well), I was using the word loosely. The site doesn’t have to publish your work if it doesn’t meet their criteria.

The site doesn't have to publish my work, I get that. But what you're implying is that I'm not supposed to even try publishing my work here just because I don't write English fluently. It's like saying: "go publish in your own country, you portuguese-speaker, and leave us english-speakers alone."

And I don't have to publish my work here, anyway. When I started to write romance and erotica short stories, I found this site and I tried to submit them here in good faith, thinking (in my humble ignorance) that I would be adding to the site, contributing in some way. But if the system is broken, I just have to suck it up and move on. To me, it's sad. I was really looking forward to publishing here.

Please tell me where I said that?

I merely stated - and will repeat one more time - you can publish in English here even if it’s your second or third language, but only if you write the English de novo, or if you or some other human have translated it from the original language, not if you used AI to translate it (i.e. all translation tools).

These aren’t my rules, they are the site’s.
