Millie's terrible day thread. You can post any and of your disappoints for the day, week, month, year, or your life.

Bloody nose when I woke up this morning. Bad one. Took 20 minutes to stanch. But at least it stopped.

It's awfully early in the heating season for this crap.

Oh, my! Tissue up the nose is usually my solution.

I feel I've talked to you about this before, but my go-to for this is a thin layer of vaseline in my nose before bed. I used to get horrid nosebleeds all the time and haven't had one in years.

You have. I think the problem this morning is the humidifier next to my head ran dry. Nose doc advises saline nose spray, and I need to be more diligent about that now. I'm mostly surprised that it came this early - normally things don't get that desiccated "up there" until late February. It may not be helping my cause that I'm on two antihistamines. Might want to back off on those.

I wish. My variety of nosebleeds are the type that would get packed with cotton at the ER. In 60 years of dealing with them, I've mastered the pressure-to-the-right-place technique. Even the nose doc was impressed. I only truly get worried if it takes more than 30 minutes to stop, and at that point I tell C to get ready for transport.

Anyway, when it happens, they're gushers. Forensics team would have a field day in our bathroom!

So, I went to an eye doctor, nothing strange about this, I do it every year. However, I mentioned my endless headaches from the sinuses. He knows I use two different glasses, lined and alternating color lenses, for my dyslexia, and asked if I get them while I'm wearing the glasses. I said sometimes. So, he suggested I go back to wearing rose-colored glasses for a bit and see if that helps. These are much less expensive than the others. By the way, those on Amazon for like 20 bucks don't work. I have developed a need for glasses when I'm on the computer and have been wearing over-the-counter glasses, with my other glasses either placed over or under them. He ordered me corrective lenses with a rose tint for dyslexia, at a total cost of only 85 smackers. So, my news is that I'm still having headbanger sinus headaches.

Since I'm too lazy to Google it, how do rose tinted lens help with dyslexia?

And, crazy question, why didn't he suggest something to help with the sinus pressure?

Migraines can also present in their early stages like sinus headaches. So, um....I'm with cw here, I'm having trouble wrapping my head around why other things weren't looked into.

But I hope viewing the world through rose colored glasses works - especially if they're less expensive than the alternative.

Answer to the last question first, because I have a doctor for that, and this fellow is an eye doctor.

I'm not sure why any of them work, but they do.

I get sinus headaches a lot due to allergies. I take Flonase, Benadryl, AND Zyrtec year round.

I've been battling a recurring cold since I had walking pneumonia (newmonia is nothing new). My sinuses get impacted, and the sprays don't always work. I'm on antihistamines, which do or don't work depending on the day of the week—probably more depending on some other factor.

Likewise - and I *still* get told to watch for them as a precursor to my migraines and to stop them from turning into nasty migraines by paying attention to have have one that's worse than usual and try my meds for breakthrough migraines. My flabbers were gasted when they told me that.

Yikes. No wonder you started this thread. Sending hugs 🫂
