The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

Really quick catch up.

Finished cleaning up the tree knocked over this weekend. Lots of firewood donated to the neighbor, lots of brush piled at the edge of the field too. Grabbed a loader bucket full of topsoil and grass seed for all the damage to the yard, and everything is filled in again.
(As long as the juncos don't convert all the seed to bird shit! Hate those little bastards this time of year. 🤬)

Really feeling the effects of all that outside work. But there ain't anyone else gonna do it before snow!

Looking forward to getting some time reading the back of my eyelids now...

Goodnight.

Impatient and rude are the adjectives I think best for these drivers. Yesterday was incident free. Today it’s rainy so I drive extra cautious. But the crazy drivers come out during the first snow. I am not looking forward to it.
Same here! Somehow, ppl forget that it rains/sleets/snows here. The ones in their jacked up trucks think they can just drive how they want since they have 4WD. Unfortunately, they don't have 4W stop! 🙄😤😡

If I'm not using ball jars, I use the "stand and fill" freezer bags with the flat bottoms. I will use a leftover plastic container from yogurt or something to assist. I will open the bag and set it inside the yogurt container and then pour my stock into the freezer bag. I never fill more than 2/3 full. When I start to seal the top I use a straw at the very end to suck any excess air out of the bag. And then I take the sealed bag out of the yogurt container and set it in my freezer.

I do something similar. I strain my stock from the roaster into Dutch ovens and put in the fridge for a day or two so the fat can rise. I skim that off then ladle the stock into gallon size ziploc bags. These go flat onto a towel-lined cookie sheet then into the top shelf of my freezer drawer. When it's frozen solid, they go downstairs to the big freezer.

I also freeze some stock in the same way in sandwich size bags which get put into a gallon size freezer bag when they're frozen. I use these smaller volumes for risotto or other uses that don't require a gallon of stock.

Some people are just resistant to learning new things. And others are told it's mandatory to attend so they show up but they couldn't give a toss about being there.
Years ago I was in a position of conducting training for people to become certified and running a specific piece of equipment. More than half of them would show up and be on their cell phone the entire time. They simply could not be bothered.
It's really annoying to be tasked with educating ppl who simply don't want to learn. In the case of some doctors, they think any education they get from someone they consider "inferior" is not worth their time.

Then, when they're held accountable by their department chair or the CEO, they would claim they were never educated. I ALWAYS kept the sign in sheets with the class ppt, notes, and objectives. I would then just forward them to the CEO/department chair when I was called on the carpet.

The recalcitrant ones learned I wasn't going quietly under the bus...

No doubt! I haven’t actually seen an actual mag in years but did see a recent animated movie over the lockdowns. Not the animated movie from ‘82 but newer…HM2000 or something like that.

When I used to frequent some of the picture threads here, we did some Halloween themed things and I went through the almost 45 yrs of magazine covers. That’s what I’m kind of doing here….I get the feeling everyone is tired of it! 🤣

My inner 12 yr old is like…yeah!
Not tired of it! I love them! 🥰

They've been running me ragged, every day this hitch.
Virtually zero sleep last night, as it was a struggle just to not get tossed out of the bunk.
I'm SOOOO READY for time with my Goddess in the mountains... two more weeks and I should be driving home.
🫂🫂🫂

I'm sure she will be happy to see you and can soothe all your cares away! 💞💖💕
