To achieve dense walkable cities you need a high trust society, and that means rounding up and locking away the homeless as soon as they appear, taking criminals out of circulation more or less permanently, stamping on violence ruthlessly, and eliminating pretty much all socially disruptive elements (no islamics for example). You're also going to have to make sure the people that live there are a good cultureal fit - which essentially rules out everyone but whites and north asians.

Junior is in Japan visiting right now as we speak. We talked on the phone the other day, and he made some interesting observations about Japan, Japanese cities, and Japanese society. Essentially, his on the ground observation is because Japan does things differently, they can make their cities work better than we can. I have read this before, but it was nice having an observation from someone who is there, who is intelligent, and who pays attention. His conclusion was that Japan is an outlier as far as determining how cities might best function. He also observed that Japan has good countryside, some of it seemingly sparsely populated.


Looking forward to getting the fuck out of the city myself, thankfully….

Japan's fascinating - I have been looking at housing there - it's very different to here - houses and buildings seem to be built to be quickly replaceable in the cities - and with ethe agoing population there are, literally millions of surplus houses in the smaller towns and countrysides and they seel for absurdly low prices (by our stds) because there aren't the buyers. It's sad in a way -

Well, that's easy. Just live in any western city (outside of Japan of course, or Singapore). Really, your best bet would be Johannesburg. You could be shit scared for the rest of your life as you walked around downtown. Best do it with some kind of minature tracking device so they can find your body.

Really tho, I would recommend a nice akiya in Japan with your own mountain.
