All of the finger lakes were magical when I was a kid. You could see the bottom while standing on the dock. While in swimming it was deeper than you wanted to swim down to. The region has great history. The names are all local indian names. I’m partial to Keuka because my favorite great aunt had a house there on the west fork. Generations back there was a hotel which was also home. Most of the family was born there through 1905. Family can be traced back to the late 1500’s making a living cutting ice out of the lake.Looks like a cool place!![]()
Night? I just got up!Night hun.![]()

Except it doesn’t kick in anymore. My body just kind of goes, “ok, back to normal…. I’ve achieved stasis….”
Hiya K!Morning all!!
I always like lake keuka and Penn Yan too. Seneca is beautiful too. Ithaca is a nice town. All of the finger lakes were magical when I was a kid. You could see the bottom while standing on the dock. In recent visits I’ve noticed the water still clear but with fertilizer from Home Depot lots of weeds grow in the lake now. Cannot see the bottom. It is an interesting place on earth as the lakes are not cut by rivers. They and the mountains were formed in the last ice age as deep crevice dug by ice pushed up the rock. Some of the lakes are over 500 feet deep. If you do visit and want good food, Union Station in Hammondsport is amazing. Chef retired from nyc and opened it as a hobby. There are still places you can go there and be far enough from Walmart you can still see the milky way.
