Up and "running" for a bit now. I use that term loosely.


Work may have tooken a turn for the weird. I see my way clear to passing the job I came from and getting this one done (except for the site work) by mid-January. I was told that this might be a no-no because they have to go in order. Now, to me, the fact that the other job is constipated by circumstance as well as poor management (the guy I didn't like, who wanted to be in charge soooo badly, and who I told to be careful what he prayed for, but he didn't listen - as usual) shouldn't hold me up. Ever. This may be a first in this industry. Go figure. Then again, maybe I'm wrong.

Please send some rain our way! August and September were very dry with virtually no rain. It’s impacting our firewood sales, as we sell 5 , 10,15 and $20 stacks. Most people who buy them are not buying them for heat, but just for outdoor fires in the fall. There is not an outdoor burn ban. Yet.

As for your dream, did you take any magic mushrooms before you went to bed???

Yes, there is always some of that. We did have a four-way call with the construction manager, the project manager, knucklehead from the other job the one I left, and me. They asked me where I am in relation to stuff, and I had all that stuff at my fingertips They asked knucklehead where he was on stuff, and he has to go back and look things up. Sadly, he is a shitty record keeper, and he also doesn’t scratch off stuff that he has completed.


Apparently, he got buffaloed by the city into committing to do something which probably could have been redone vastly less expensively by a quick thought outside of the box. Of course, if thinking is not your strong suit….


If they send me back over there, it’s going to be under the condition that he leaves. That’s not negotiable.

Getting caught up a bit from yesterday and part of today at least

I get it that you wanna keep those waters clean, and let natural trout thrive there, but as a landowner it’s a pain in the ass.

Sure is. Friend of mine has a house with a creek that borders the backyard. They are required to address all invasive plants growing along the creek in their backyard. Inspections are done and fines imposed for non-compliance. And homeowners need to conduct this work in a city-proscribed manner which is manual and time-consuming.

Groceries are got, however. Breakfast #2 is on the way.

Where I grew up there's a Biergarten in one of our city parks. It's seasonal - hello, Midwest. Advertises itself as the first public beer garden in the US since Prohibition (I have not fact-checked this statement).
Every summer when my family does our reunion, there's an afternoon spent there. It offers various beers, bratwurst, hotdogs, and giant pretzels.
We go in late August when there are hornets. Loads and loads of hornets.

I find the idea of mushroom coffee intruiging but haven't considered trying it. I love mushrooms and (mostly) tolerate them pretty well. So I follow the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" line of thought. Plus - why ruin a perfectly good food on a whim.

This is Fairfax County. They clear cut all the trees and paved it over. It is dry here and when the sun is out hotter than when it was dirt and trees.

I am looking forward to moving away from the I-95 corridor and out toward the I 65 corridor.

Not taken the wrong way. This place barely feels like America. My better half has a good job and the baby daddy lives here. So I'll stay for a few more years. I originally moved here for work. They talked me into it saying that they could not find someone who could get a clearance. I now think those able to the work knew better than to move here.
Aside from feeling like the only white American here the first thing I noticed is when it rained everything runs off. Grass is never watered. Next I formed a real love for Korean and Vietnamese food. -My next door neighbors Thai food is awesome.- Partly because there are no Italian's here. Shocked when I moved this far south from the Mason Dixon line in Philly I could not find fried chicken anywhere. Good thing I like to cook. We do have some great grocery stores, but vegetables can still lack during the summer months.
Got to taxi the kid. Off to sit in traffic....

I was 15 years. The director above me was 14. We just made too much money. I did not decide to leave. I wasn't finished with my 'earning years'.
