The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

I went to Kane (kinda south/southeast of Erie) back a couple/three years ago to pick up a free (yes, free, my favorite price) rust bucket anvil because it has Teh Big Motuh in it. It was the last day of September when I went and the scenery was magnificent. No time to visit anything because I was on a mission, so the mountains and the changing colors more than made up for that. It's a damned fine piece of dirt we have for a nation.
For sure. I’d love to move to central PA, but Mrs wonderer is having none of it. So we drive across it every few years.

We did the Alaska cruise. It is SO worth it! If you do it make sure you get a cabin on the port side with a balcony. The ships (at the time) cruised Glacier Bay clockwise. My husband woke me with breakfast and we watched the glacier calving from the balcony.

I also want to go to Antarctica. It's the reason I started training. I have read there are smaller research vessels that take passengers. They can choose to participate or not in the research. Smaller vessels can land passengers while the large cruise ships cannot. I've been trying to talk my niece, a marine biologist, to go with me. So far, not having any luck. I'd like to go before I get too old.
I dreamed of hiking Glacier National Park and did it after my wife passed. I wanted to do it before I got too old. I am glad I did. I could not hike it today. My advice: do it sooner than later. You will never regret it.

Sounds like it must have been good, therapeutic and healing trip.

I agree. I’ve been wondering how much I can afford to retire and how much time I have.

Our trip has gone off course a bit - which is the way I like it. The original idea was to to follow US Route 6 across Pennsylvania. Turns out Route 6 is actually a pretty busy road so we’ve been using finding these little roads that basically go parallel. But there’s no such thing as parallel bcz of all of the mountains. It’s been great.

We got to our destination last night by meandering our way thru mountain passes, farm fields, and tiny little towns.

We did find Route 6 in Towanda NY (which we renamed LaFawnda - from Napoleon Dynamite) And found this super throwback diner. So cute. Had a great lunch (and a milkshake) and chatted with locals.

Then we got back on the back roads and meandered to the Grand Canyon of PA which is much larger than I thought it would be. Lots of good hiking. We got out 10k steps in yesterday for sure!

Can’t really see it but the trees are really starting to change.

Today we’re exploring the Grand Canyon some more, then driving about 100 miles west to do some more hiking.

And yeah- I’m going to the PA Lumber museum. 😂 I’ve got wood.
I am not sure where you are right now but if you get a chance go to Worlds End State Park which is south of you and Forksville. Family had a hunting cabin up that way. It has been a long time.

I have a grandmother clock from Germany my parents gave me. I haven't had it hung for years. I know it must need some work. Maybe another project?
My mother has a Cuckoo clock we brought her when we lived there 30+ yrs ago. Something has gone wrong with it…I might as well throw that in with my other clock project. That one worries me, as it has to a have a thousand moving parts. My grandmother had one that my aunt (same one I inherited the grandfather clock from) brought her from when they lived in France in the 50’s. It was a big one and had a stags head with antlers as the centerpiece. After she died it “disappeared”…have no clue which thieving cousin nabbed it.

Morning all. All frustrations will be taken out on clay targets and paper downrange today! Beautiful day for it. In the 60’s for the ride and probably top out around 81. Everyone have a great day!

MZ will be the old country this week…we’ll start with the area me ancestors prowled…in their kilts….
