Not sure what the argument is here but it’s been my military experience, having been an expert marksman using both the M-14 and the M-16 let there be no doubt that an M-16 is deadly accurate at 200 yards. Wouldn’t try taking out a bear or a moose but the AR-15 will easily kill a human at 200 yards. IMHO

There are plenty of topics that are relevant to the senseless murder of Charlie Kirk that are worthy of discussion.

Bump stocks, AR15s, deer hunting the Vegas guy have nothing to do with what happened yesterday. The man who assassinated Kirk was a skilled sharpshooter, a hunter for sure who probably had help. He didn’t use a military style “assault weapon”, he used an ordinary hunting rifle.

A lot of people seemed to be oddly disappointed by that. Perhaps because it doesn’t fit their need to rant about buttstocks and AR15s and whatnots. But it doesn’t stop them.

Now, at 200 yards few people are going to survive a hit in the neck from either of those rounds. As an aside that got me to thinking he had to be aiming for the head as it is a bigger target. Two things could have happened: He zeroed the rifle in at 100 yards, forgetting the bullet would drop 3.2 inches at 200 yards, or he bucked the shot forcing a lower impact point. Maybe a little of both.

I'm not sure what the exact noun nomenclature was for the 30.06. With iron sights to adjust or zero that weapon wouldn't he need a scope, or time at a range with paper targets. With my bolt action I installed a redfield 3X9 variable and set it for 200 yards.

It could have been a head shot not compensating for bullet drop.

It's a terrible loss, I feel for his lovely wife and beautiful children.
