The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

Well the fair was fun. They held the tractor pulls on Wednesday and it rained so I missed it.

We took two first place: best beets in show and best sunflower ready for harvest.

Three second place: best pumpkin and tallest sorghum. (It was the first time in 12 years we didn’t take first for that!) and nicest argeretum.

And two third place. Best marigolds, best phlox.

All in all, a really nice showing. I did not enter our largest sunflower or our cucumbers. And a few things didn’t place at all.
Congratulations! I love fairs! Ours is next month.

I used to participate in Brenda’s (I think you two are good friends?) thread quite a bit, but when I migrated off the PG boards, I’ve not gone back much. Too scattered and skewed too young over there. I wish Brenda would come over with us to be honest. She’d fit right in.

I also didn’t want to start a pure music thread, as there are many others. Just something we could gel around if in a mood.

We’ll hear from bone and cancer docs today. Keep your fingers crossed it’s all good news. Get my new eye glasses, and was given a hall pass to go throw some darts this afternoon with the lads. Shaping up to be a good day if momma’s news is trending in the right direction.

How was the news? Hugs for mama! πŸ«‚πŸ«‚

We find out today. The Zoom w the oncologist (I didn’t sit in on it) was that the cancer is very slow moving and they want to wait until this broken bone in her back heals before radiation treatments. That’s the gist of it now. So I’m taking all that Sweet&Low and any other chemical concoctions out of her house. Diet and antioxidant heavy foods to help in the slowing process. That’s the order of the day.
Good move! Since the cancer is slow-growing, it's prudent to wait until her broken bone heals. Radiation will slow the healing process.

Get her on whole foods and limit processed foods. B vitamins are good. Folate as well.

I used to participate in about three or four pure photo threads when I first found LIt. There was a B&W thread I was active in and a couple of themed threads. I was a man about town over in that room but once I found this thread, it felt more like home…a place where I could consolidate all those thoughts and inspirations into one tidy place.

Thanks to all who make this thread what it is. I sincerely mean that.

We just operate on a different plain here.πŸ™‚
This is the BEST place! πŸ₯°βœ¨οΈπŸ₯°

Maybe look into one of those water tub foot things? They look like a good way to soak those toes.

My mom would freeze a pint water bottle and then roll her foot on it for PF. That may help. Or I can just organize a go team to bring a few of us in on rotation to massage themπŸ˜‚
I think a GO team is a great idea! πŸ₯°πŸ₯°

I forgot to post the recipe when people asked for it. Here it is;

Fruit coffee cake
Mix:
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
4-5 oz Greek yogurt
4-5 oz applesauce

Add to the liquid mixture:
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 cup whole wheat flour

Then add in 1/2 - 2 cups berries

Pour into greased cake sheet

Sprinkle top with slivered almonds

Bake 350 for 30 minutes.
Saved this! Can frozen fruit be used?

No, I'm sure not. Patients have told me how painful it is.

I haven't had it; I'm glad I got the vaccines. Just about everyone in our generation had measles, mumps, chicken pox, and rubella.

Shingles is caused by the same virus that causes chicken pox. The virus hides in the nerve roots and can activate at any time. Besides causing the rash and blisters, an attack can also lead to prolonged and ongoing nerve pain.
I hot told by a doc if vaccinated with mmr prior to 70....likely need a booster

Holy πŸ„
took me all day to catch up

anywhere near the eyes can be a risk of vision issues, including blindness. immediately seek care in these instances!

Kind of like an attack dog with no teeth
Same stuff happens with my team - very irritating

Impressive!! Way to go... well, except for poking your trainer :ROFLMAO:

Take your dick out...

LOA, LOA, LOA
All seriousness - what a crap situation. I support whatever decision you and your goddess make to best address this situation. πŸ«‚

I hope you got your wish!

Yay! Win Column!!
I'm prescribing a healthy dose of oversleeping. It's such good medicine πŸ«‚

Where are my manners? It's the weekend. Nappetizers... lots of nappetizers should be on the menu!! Thanks, Miss K

absolutely agree!

This week has been unreasonably long 😩

I agree - I've seen/heard more than enough over the years that I called and scheduled my shots as close to my 50th bday as I could. πŸ’‰πŸ’‰beats shingles in my book!

Lovely photos and congratulations on the awards!! πŸ†

Stress is a royal motherfucker!! It can do SO much damage!!

Terrifying! Those CCTV videos of close calls w/ kids?
I can't watch them. 😬

Which is why I never order coffee at a coffee shop. They brew in such quantity that it tastes burnt and muddy. πŸ˜–
No thanks.

Congratulations! That's a nice space of time to make a smooth transition.

Very kind words and a lovely compliment. Thank you, HDH πŸ₯°

Oh no! SPOONIE DOWN... We have a spoonie down!!

Until the Massage Pit Crew is organized and deployed, please start self-care measures to minimize further exacerbation of the issue and promote healing:

Elevation
(^^which you've already mentioned)
Also - what @Wonderer67 said, get a lawn chair, park yourself, and direct others.

You have been constructively promoted to Foreman (Foreperson?)

Let us know if you need a doctor's note and someone will forge one for you arrange for one to be electronically delivered to you. ✍️

Thanks, B2... I'll have to give this a try!

Beautiful!! That is an amazing view!!

😬 okay, but maybe have a small nibble with the coffee so you have more than just black coffee for your stomach acid to work on? :coffee:
I love these! Thanks, Likes! 😘πŸ₯°

Today was a good day.

Woke up really early. Like at 4.

Our company alots us two volunteer days. So I organized an event with some other people. A local farm is a non profit and donates 100% of their crops to local free farmer markets and food banks.

We picked eggplant today from 8-12. Then I worked from home.

They still haven’t picked up the skid steer, so from 5 to 7 I knocked out a couple of areas that I wanted to look a little bit better.

Fire out at the patio.

Dinner: beer and goat cheese salad.
Sounds like a productive day!
