The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

There were two I recall in Lancaster Co. One hit an Amish barn and the next day I was driving by and they were already getting started on the barn raising. I saw an Amishman walking across a corn field with a cell phone. He had that walk they have and I did get a chuckle. They have come up with some funny rules to limit cell phone use.
I didn't know they could have cell phones! Do they have electricity?

Usually not but there are exceptions and some do cheat. If they have a cell phone they are supposed to keep it in a box away from the house.

I recall renting a garage from one Amish guy that had bought the property and it had electricity so he could rent it out. In PA they must have batteries on their buggies for flashing lights. I was riding by a farm on my bike and a woman had stopped in to buy some produce. She could not get her car to start and killed the battery. I got the battery from their buggy and jump started the car! They use solar panels to charge their buggy batteries.

I have a ton of stories. There was the girl that left the Amish and married and "English". What they call us. She lived next door when I was in high school and I would play hookey on days she was outside hanging up her wash!

Actually, if I'm in a situation where they require me to have/wear safety glasses and I really don't need to, I do use a necklace thingie so that they're present and I meet the requirement without having to engage in Wanton Asshattery actually wearing the damned things.
I had safty glasses save my eye. Too long to a story for here but you never know what might come flying thru the air in a steel mill or a construction site. I wear glasses all the time so they do not bother me. Just be safe out there, bad things can and do happen.

Good morning denizens of the diner. The same thing to do as yesterday morning. My daughter gets her rental. The car needs rear springs. I guess that road hazard was uglier than I thought.

Afterwords I am free for the rest of the week. Rain in the forecast today. And the old dog sleeps more.

Have a safe and good day.

Old Cat slept almost all the time. I would have put him at 22 hours/day, really.

His bones rest with those of Big Horse. I like to think that they'd both approve.

Back to work? How was it? 🤗
Ok. My bosses dad just got put in hospice. He was playing golf and had some back pain.. he had cancer but they were treating. Went to the er and stage 4. Met with oncology and they made the decision to stop treatment. My coworker is on dialysis now and his sister died from cancer in 8/8

Our team is struggling....

There are two things that will ensure that I will be a 'no show' at a party - fancy dress (costume party to you guys I guess) and karaoke. I was, however, once heard belting out Teenage Kicks by the Undertones at 4 in the morning, in a curry house, but that was over 40 years ago!
But it’s such a great song.

Even if you are singing it.

Legend has it that an college in UK was almost named City University Newcastle upon Tyne
Similar to the Scunthorpe problem? 😂

The problem was named after an incident in April 1996 in which AOL's profanity filter prevented people in the English town of Scunthorpe from creating AOL accounts because the town's name contains the substring "cunt".[1] In the early 2000s, Google's opt-in SafeSearch made the same error, with local services and businesses that included the town in their names or URLsamong those mistakenly hidden from search results.[2]

Sad news. Prayers…

My brother was using the wire wheel on a bench grinder and got (what he thought) was a piece of rust in his eye....
He tried and tried to pick it out, finally gave up and went to the eye doctor, who got ahold of it and pulled out a FULL LENGTH wire from that wire wheel!
It still makes me cringe when I think about it!
