They don’t need too much mentoring. Their parents are awesome. Truly great parenting.

They listen well and pick up things fast.
I couldn't have gotten better parents if I custom ordered them from a catalog, but I still remember a mild mannered mentor of mine... WWII Vet, reenlisted for Korea....
Small in stature, but needed a wheelbarrow to push his balls around in!

I cleared ACRES of brush with that man, all by hand, as he refused to use a chainsaw.
He had NO feeling in his legs, due to the shrapnel in the base of his spine, which caused the Drs to tell him he'd never walk again. They were wrong!
I wouldn't trade a minute that I spent with that man for anything, hence, the moral of this rant... "DON'T cut yourself short on what "mentoring" you are doing for these kids, whether you know it or not.
