The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

Good morning Wat and MissK. The cafe is open.

Still too much smoky haze the past few days. It’s going to get better but in comes the heat and humidity.

I went to the grocery store yesterday that offered Senior discount every Tuesday. OMG was it crowded! I like 10 percent off but shopping shoulder to shoulder is unhealthy and not worth the risk.

Have a good day.

I know you are supposed to put your mask on first before helping others, but it’s so hard. I’m sleep deprived, juggling phones, calming my mom down who doesn’t understand where she is. She was transferred to a rehab place, it was late and she got roomed with someone who is watching tv loudly, it was blaring through the phone. She’s had a stroke and she can’t handle the noise. I just calmed her down, told her it will be ok, and we will get tomorrow. Lights out in 45 mins there. I asked them to move her somewhere quiet until then and they said they would. She may try and escape.
I need to eat, get my meds, breathe and that sort of thing. I can’t get to her until I get enough sleep to safely drive for 7-8 hrs.
Sorry Noor. Taking care of parents is a tought, tough job.

Sorrry this is happening.

So this is actually shoreline, not coastline. Not a great time of day to be taking photos, so only a few turned out ok. And the smoke from the wild fires north of here made everything really hazy.

From this point in the picture below, there is open water for 165 miles across. Not quite as big water as @Boat1 sees, but still not small. The difference is this is fresh water. 20 miles out from this point the water hits a deep of something like 1100 feet.

This little boat is powered by twin CAT diesels, 800Hp ea.

Is this near Pictured Rocks on Lake Superior?

Home. Had a tough go with my old co-worker. I've been as patient as possible with him, but he talks too much, doesn't remember what we talked about an hour ago, and he really truly struggles to follow my dreadfully specific instructions. Really. I already thought it out.

Last month, we had a stint of a few hours in this one picky/sicky woman's apartment. She's a good sport, but have it done and clean and be gone when she gets back. Simple, really. Do it first thing, unfuck your shit, and be gone. Last time, he let the crew tell him that they'd get to it, thet got there after lunch, they weren't done and had shit everywhere and the 3-page bitch letter we got with 8 units on it, hers was a whole fucking page. I swore to the guys, him included, never again, and here's how - we'll do what I say next time. Today was Next Time.

I walked down the sidewalk this morning after a week's prep/pep talk about it and there he is, escorting the crew into the unit stack . . . next door. "But you said . . . " "I said, do what I say! You're giving your crew away and you're repeating every single thing that went to Hell the last time." "But you said to go in her place at 8:30" "I said, it's maybe 8:30. Tell them to wait and go knock on her door." Lol and behold, she came out by herself all of 30 seconds later, and disaster was averted.

I got a call from the boss with some cryptic shit about professionalism. Those always annoy me in a very special Somebody-needs-shankin' kind of way. That was after lunch. On the way home, he calls me back and tells me he's transferring this old dude and sending me someone else come Monday. So, my snake in the grass is leaving. And here I thought he had more character than that. Figures . . . .

This is exactly Pictured Rocks... ;)

I was first there at age 7 then in my 20s and 30s. I took my late wife there in midst of Covid as it was one of a few places of very low incidence. She had never been to the UP nor seen Lake Superior. That was our last vacation as one month late diagnosed with cancer. Still the place only brings smiles and not tears.

My Mom is more settled. The loud tv watching room mate has been moved.
She’s very nice my mom says.
Mom is seems happy with the place and the spiffy new dream loop earplugs I sent her.
I got my meds today, and hopefully I can sleep.
