Funny pictures VI (No gifs, please)

It is a section of highway in a very remote area with a high number of indigenous reserves and a lot of poverty and associated ills (addiction etc.). Going back to the 60's there have been quite a few murdered or missing women, mostly indigenous. The extent of the problem has come to light more in the past few decades as the plight of murdered and missing indigenous women has become more recognized. But for a long time it was something that just didn't get much attention due to racism in the justice system, including the belief that it was indigenous on indigenous violence (which shouldn't make any difference) or women that simply went off to the big city and disappeared into the underworld (and therefore their own fault). To this day there is not a good understanding of what has transpired - was it specific individuals like serial killers or was it a systematic preying on women known to be vulnerable across a wide set of perpetrators. And at this point lot of it is lost to history and recognition of how long the authorities largely dismissed and ignored it.
