The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

so, sadly, we had to go to a funeral this morning. The mother of one of our neighbors who were very close with… sad. Very sudden and unexpected. 💔

We didn’t stick around for the repast. We ended up getting ice cream for lunch. ❤️

Then we mowed my neighbors field (same one whose mom passed away). Yes, us too, and it was quite long. So the damnedest thing happened as I was mowing the field. All these barn, swallows kept on scooping and swiping around me. Turns out I was stirring up all the insects and they were having a feast.

Then I went down to the farm and mowed there

Then Mrs. wonder and I cleaned out an area under a couple of trees and one of our hedges. Mile a minute has been growing in it like crazy and making a nuisance of itself. So we hadda clean that shit out!

Jumped into the pool (nekkid of course), and the next thing we knew it was 730 and we hadn’t planned dinner. I made some Russian dressing, started a nice little fire in the fire pit, and we chopped up some raw vegetables.

Stuff like what you post about what you guys do makes me wish I was living Out West instead of Back East.

*le sigh*

Another early finishing day! My day was so very non-productive. I did get some cherries that I froze into a freezer bag and down to the freezer. I had some in the fridge that got cleaned, sorted, stems pulled, and onto the cookie sheet to be frozen. I also pulled a bag of frozen cherries to make syrup. I think I'll use the leftover pulp in either cookies or cheesecake bars.

I went to my friend's house for dinner the other day. We were watching a group of young bald eagles flying and hunting. Here's a picture of one in a tree.

S/he's lookin' all Freedom-y . . . an' shit . . . .

Didn't occur to me that once I lost mom I would start losing all her close friends. Was recently reminded.
Something similar happened with my late wife’s friends and family. I have rediscovered old friends and discovered new friends from my group of widows and widowers. I’m glad I am close to my children and grandchildren.

Good morning Wat. I am sorry to read about your mom. Mine was overjoyed to tell me everything until it was serious. It scared me. Now I’m older and issues developing I try to balance what to share with the kids. For example I waited until the prostate biopsy was done and had a discussion with my doctor. I was fortunate as it was the lowest grade which meant I would die of something else before cancer.

Remember she is scared. Vent here.

Thank you. The good little doctor has always been an odd duck, and she has a family history of information control and of seeing us kids as too fragile to handle Life's Tough Shit. All of this is, of course, a load of crap. But she still thinks that's she's the smartest person in the room, so there's that. Anyway, it is what it is, and more importantly, it ain't what it ain't. Just another chapter . . . .

That is substantial!! ;)

Seriously, hope people and property are all OK
One street over flooded basement and there was standing water and outside of the village it was high.... and running... people were warned to not drive through.... I stayed home and prayed... we just did work on our storm sewers and the flooding is better in the flooding parts of tge village but that much water that fast is tough.... we are also surrounded by a creek that regularly runs over the banks

Turn around, don't drown is something I hear on the stations down here. I am on the hairy edge of a flood zone but am not required to have flood insurance. I think I may bet some but homeowners insurance down here in FL cost so much!
