The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

I think I was about 11 when I started raking hay with the old ford 8N or 9N. Then driving the loaded wagons of hay back to the barn. Had to keep your hand on the gear shift handle going down hill, one or the other would pop out of gear then. Getting pushed down hill at high speed with a full hay wagon was not something you wanted to do. I think the leased hay field was 3 miles from the farm, quite a drive along the gravel roads.
Now we think of that or tell a young mother and they just gasp at what we did as kids. Or they don’t believe us. But im here to tell everyone ya were did these things as little kids😜 and we mostly survived. 😬

Caught up? On a Saturday? Before 2nd meal? 🥳
Whatcha all up to today?
But first...
Holy 🐄 ... this is gonna be at least a 2-parter
Here's Part 1
No more work talk...raises the blood pressure
CW & Spoiler Alert - there may be some work talk in this catch-up... read with caution 🫂
Kick ass and take names, W!
Watch your form... don't want you throwing out your back or hips. 🤨 ;)
Which was it? If we don't hear from you, we'll assume the former. 😅 RIP! 🪦
🎙️ Attention Café patrons - announcing a Welfare Check for @Crankbait88
It really sucks when you have to signpost that! :(
I'm willing to put up with a few of those in exchange for retaining a few of these vvv Bonus - this one appears a clever solution for a different issue coming up later in the recap :ROFLMAO:

I have proven, scientifically, that this is not true. ;)
Fingers crossed!
Here's your sign

thank my grandpa for turning me into a baseball fan.
My uncle was a huge baseball fan... his team? Cubs
I have had some low back pain that was not responding to PT. My doctor thinks it may be the result of kidneys. You might want to check out all medical reasons.
My lower back pain on the right side, when I had it 10 year ago, was arthritis in my right hip. One new joint later and all is well.
The body is some tricky :poop: y'all
I have been going through emotional swings as I come up on the third anniversary of my wife’s passing. I am making it thanks to all of you, my GF and my children and friends. Thank you!
We're here for you ... big, small, all 🫂🫂🫂

I did have a plumbing issue to deal with after hours. I think we found some resolution.
1752366251513.png
But it’s time for an alignment meeting. Sadly the company culture is all nicely nicely and sometimes ya gotta break a few eggs to make an omelette.
🤫 shhh... stop talking
My wife still gets this around the anniversary timeframe of her husbands passing too.
Grief has no set timeline... it will mess up your calendar faster than you can say, "What day is it?"
My dad made that up, to the best of my knowledge.
Love me some made up words!!
I'm overdue a Waffle House All-Star . . . .

On that note: 🎙️ Attention Café Customers - wellness check for @fullservice65... wellness check for @fullservice65... that is all...
A friend (RIP) told me of a customer who came into the hardware store looking for ice melter so he could get some gription on his tires.
Maybe that guy knew your dad . . . .
Maybe... was this guy? Was he your dad, @Wonderer67 ??
My Silverado has a Detroit Locker.
It looks like English *scratches head* Must be The Guy's English  😛
Gription = bite?
Grip + traction = gription
So no smoking the tires?
Where are we going with this??
Tires? You want to smoke tires now? Think of all the toxic chemica... wait, go ahead. Probably healthier than smoking 🚬
I started driving and Allis Chalmers when I was 8. All I did was pull a wagon while evryone else thru bales up on the wagon and stacked them.
Oooh, everyone else got the muddy end of the stick on that job. Lucky you!! Long legs come in handy
Super C. I find it amazing that many of us survived those years😜. Yup 8 was about right we could sort of reach the peddles if we slid slightly off the seat lol
Reminds me of the time...
older, younger brothers kept trying to get the seat to move back "just a little bit more" and busted it off its moorings. This was the days of bench seats. Think 80s GM sedan.
None of us girls could safely drive it because we kept sliding back so far our feet lost contact with the pedals. Even mom at 5'11" couldn't drive it safely.
I had one of those stuffed chairback pillows for reading in bed... flipped it upside down and laid it in the driver's seat. Filled up just enough of the space so we could drive it.
RIP pillow - you were a beloved favorite and gave your all for the cause. 😥

Hello everyone. I'm home now. What a long day...
It was uncomfortably hot all day which makes wifey miserable. We have AC but both of us have Arthritis and wifey has advanced scoliosis in her back. She's in constant pain and some of her medications aren't really effective with the AC on. Sometimes sleep is her only friend.

Second verse, same as the first...
well, only the broad strokes 😏
Cripes! this may take 3 parts today

Part 2:
Psst - here comes the work chatter...
on second thought... it's the weekend...
Cliffs Notes:

What is... the definition of an Oxymoron for $400, Alex?
Allot of us could use sleep therapy. I see kids just fall asleep wherever they are and go how do they do that? That should reserved for this group👍👍
Don't they teach that in the military? Eat when you can, sleep when you can? Or do the leaders just say that and it's up to the soldiers to figure it out on their own?
I will say…at this point in my life, I just like being out there. If i get a bite…bonus.
Same... wait... what's the topic again?
🎣
Unless that's a metaphor...
My normal sleep is about 6 hours and I can function on that much. But when I get 7+, wow I have so much energy.
Love that you can top off the tank that way!! 😍
I’d love that my kidneys don’t cooperate unless i take something which i don’t like to do
If I'm following... my doc recommends "sips of fluid" starting around dinnertime. Pretty much those "Toddler Bedtime Rules" around drinks of water before bed.
It's like the RC calendar method of BC but for kidneys... works until it doesn't. 😂
I can bait the hook and catch the fish but I can't pull the fish off the hook...grosses me out

Apparently I will have to bat my lashes at my friend's to help me out.... I can probably gut after they are dead.... it is the wiggly fight for air....gag
And you're a nurse? I'm pretty sure you've done things worse than removing a hook from a fish! :ROFLMAO:
worms, fish guts, flopping fish, and baby :poop: don't phase me... but I'm useless with 🤮
For me it was poopy diapers with the kids. Hated that job! Give me a nice big deer to gut, and I'd be shoulder deep in that thing, no problem! Diapers, no way!
Gotcha covered - see part 1 :ROFLMAO:
Dozen eggs cooked.
Oooh - thanks for the reminder... I have some eggs that need cooking. Whipped up a pan of Cheesy Chili Squares 😋 And they freeze well, too. May need to make 1 or 2 more batches tomorrow. Can't waste eggs at today's prices. 🥚

And a watched pot never boils
I have proven, scientifically, that this is not true. ;)
Fingers crossed!
Simple: move to Denver. A watched pot boils quicker at high altitude.
And doesn't altitude mess up baking?
Oh totally messes it all up lol
I've been screwing around with a stove top technique....it's a bit tricky but the dense fudgy end is worth it.
New vote, for number one post taken out of context!
DONT MESS WITH CAKE
The band or the food??
I like Cake!
🥰🥰 This whole conversation
also - TIL - this WHOLE TIME I've been grooving on that song thinking it was by the Butthole Surfers
Stepstoll doesn't open so I can't get to the ceiling... really!?!?
I need a step...
Wait I just had an idea.... will try tomorrow.
Is this idea @Wat_Tyler approved??
Asking for a friend... don't break your neck, @Missk_2022!!
I must be the baby of the group

Baby k+
Baby K+... don't mess with cake... Baby Cakes
new nickname? 🍰
Fucking electricity
Very glad it came back under the "Spoilage Rule Limits"
still very annoying 😖
The dog ended up doing all sorts of gyrations and gymnastics in the air, and was NOT pleased with the maneuver...
I'm torn...
Part of me wants to hug and cuddle Woofikins 🐶
Another part of me really wishes there was a GoPro in that truck cab :ROFLMAO:
Gotta dig for sheet metal, hopefully there's something around.
Really? I'll lay 10:1 odds you've got something there... may take a bit of digging... but it's there 😂
Yeah.... but fish are not people.... and i am not causing people's death or making them eat worms
But... you could...
 I'm sensing a missed opportunity here

Busy day today
I need a nap when I read your daily recap posts
Phew! 😮‍💨
I must be needs me some sleep, too.
Besides, the cats do, too.
I did get a nice nap while the electricity was out.
It was cloudy. I couldn't see. There really wasn't much else to do . . . .
Sleep is good medicine... hope you're refreshed tomorrow
Now we think of that or tell a young mother and they just gasp at what we did as kids. Or they don’t believe us. But im here to tell everyone ya were did these things as little kids😜 and we mostly survived. 😬
PSA: Make sure mom is sitting down first... and if it applies, mix her a stiff drink, too.
Somehow, a night of storytelling with mom turned into "everybody tell mom the most insane thing you did under her watch". She thanked us for waiting until everyone was at least 20 years past their survival date. :ROFLMAO:
Those are Hibiscus... possibly "dinner plate" Hibiscus... they're beautiful, but have virtually zero scent.
I love making tea from them. Very tart! But a few drops of honey or light maple syrup balances it out. Wicked stains though - ranks up there w/ the stain power of 🍒 juice
Hello everyone. I'm home now. What a long day...
Sounds exhausting Rj... hope you both get some restorative sleep tonight...

Good morning Wat. I had my annual physical yesterday. More testing to determine cause of lower back pain on the right side of my back. I am stopping PT until we know more.

Getting older is not fun. Alone it’s even worse. Sorry that I am feeling sorry for myself. That’s not me.
I'm usually a huge proponent of PT but, in your case, I think it's a good idea for you to pause it. PT shouldn't hurt that much.

I'm so sorry you're feeling alone. 🫂💜🫂

Trying to wind down for the day.

Been watching the smoke get thicker and thicker here. Air quality index is in the mid 300 again now. Buttoned up the garage workshop, and turned off the air exchange in the house. Will try to keep it out as long as possible. Fire must be closer than the last one, it smells more like burning plastic than the last one. I know it's just forest fires, but smells bad this time through.

Goodnight everyone!

I use the ac but hide until a summer down duvet, and then my meds work ok.

It was awful this morning! I missed something really important today because I couldn’t breath in it even with an n95 and carbon mask.

I have heard that can do wonders for your vision. Clear site and more vivid colors. I am going to be due for it soon but the Dr. said I can still read?
You will still be able to read. You may need readers as the muscles that control accommodation may get cut during the procedure.

I was so happy to throw away my hard contact lenses and my -13 glasses after my cataract surgery! It's still very cool to wake up and be able to see!

Corporate culture…ugh…five yrs till retirement, then I’m going to kick my cousin off our farm and homestead that piece of land or find something a little closer to home…my DiL is all in as is my youngest. I’m sick of the rat race, and it’s high time to get back to my roots…

It’s hot, I’m lazy, but the fish aren’t going to catch themselves. Momma is improving and slept well yesterday. The only fly in the ointment is company recurrent🫩 coming up next week. Gotta get my mind around sitting in classes all day…for 12 hrs…all week…🫩…for someone who’s not chained to a desk the rest of the year…

I think these pics are filtered, but who cares? They’re cool and sometimes it’s fun to see the artist bend light a bit. Desert MZ——

Love the picture, H! 😍

I got a kick out of this.

I had a great uncle that was married to my grandfather’s youngest sister. He had this old brown Dodge wagon who’s ass end was loaded to the gills with rods and reels! 😂. I swear it looked just like this! I don’t know how he knew what he had in there, and there was no way in hell he was using all of it!

Then I look in my garage…🙀

I wonder if this is what @Greylag's garage looks like? 🤭🎣🤭

I’ve dealt with back pain on and off for years…until I stumbled on an inversion table. It was by accident and they were treating me for another malady, but the traction table I was on helped with my back pain. Something about lengthening the spine or some magic our resident nurses could better explain!

Anyhow, I dropped the $ for the one that’s advertised on late night infomercials (TeeterLink) and yes I researched it and Mr Teeter wasn’t lying to you…he’s an engineer who came up with, at that time, the highest rated home inversion table on the market. Seems last I checked he’s been dethroned as King Inversion, but the price was right and it really helped.

It’s basically paid for itself by me not having to go to chiropractors and sports medicine places.
As we age, we lose bone and other supportive structures. This is why people lose height. The loss of bone structure in the spinal column causes the pads between the vertebrae (discs) to squish out of place and puts pressure on the nerves that come off the spinal cord.

An inversion table can help with lengthening the spinal column, however, it can also be detrimental to some. Placing oneself in a head-down position can cause increased intracranial pressure due to blood and other fluids running into the brain. Most people are OK with this in the short term but some aren't. It's always best to check with your HCP before using an inversion table.
