Now we think of that or tell a young mother and they just gasp at what we did as kids. Or they don’t believe us. But im here to tell everyone ya were did these things as little kidsI think I was about 11 when I started raking hay with the old ford 8N or 9N. Then driving the loaded wagons of hay back to the barn. Had to keep your hand on the gear shift handle going down hill, one or the other would pop out of gear then. Getting pushed down hill at high speed with a full hay wagon was not something you wanted to do. I think the leased hay field was 3 miles from the farm, quite a drive along the gravel roads.
