One Big Beautiful Bill Act

Um, er, ah. You seem to need to dot all of your i's and cross all of your t's but I think your 80 hours is more like per month. Which, sounds reasonable if it hadn't been proven to be a disaster in Arkansas:

"Here's why Arkansas's experience is relevant:
  • Implementation and Disenrollment: Arkansas implemented work requirements for Medicaid recipients in 2018. This included a requirement to report work hours. Within seven months, roughly 18,000 people were disenrolled from Medicaid.
  • Problematic Implementation:The implementation of these work requirements was plagued by administrative issues. These included:
    • Confusing Requirements: Available data suggested that the requirements were confusing to enrollees.
    • Coverage Losses: The requirements resulted in substantial coverage losses, even among individuals who should have qualified for exemptions. In fact, a study found that over 95% of those who lost coverage were either meeting the requirement or should have been exempt, indicating disenrollment was not due to ineligibility.
    • Technological Difficulties: The website used to document work hours was not designed for smartphones and was frequently unavailable for maintenance.
    • Paperwork Challenges: People struggled to navigate the reporting process, including missing deadlines or not receiving necessary paperwork.
  • Judicial Intervention: A federal judge eventually blocked the Arkansas work requirement program.
  • In summary, Arkansas's experience with Medicaid work reporting requirements demonstrated the potential for such policies to create confusion, lead to coverage losses due to administrative hurdles, and ultimately be deemed problematic."

While your "able-bodied adults" sounds like a good group to target for this legislation, I don't think you'll find much "waste, fraud and abuse" among those that could be described this way. Maybe get out in your community a bit more!?
🙏 I meant to say per month. Nice catch!

They aren't. The bill and this administration makeclear that our priorities are to fuck over science, immigrants and healthcare to benefit rich people.

And we will suffer as a country as a result.
CBO might be off, they might be on target. They are more credible than you.

it's a shitty bill. They should've had separate bills for border,. Medicaid, etc.

And the carveouts for votes are just as horrible.

They were writing it while voting

No need for a border bill. The border is sealed. All it took was a president willing to fix it. The reconciliation bill includes additional money for immigration enforcement, however I’d be fine with redirecting some of that toward defense or deficit reduction.

Democrats have zero desire to slow the growth of Medicaid spending. They want Medicaid for All. Governors, including your former GOP governor Kasich can’t say no to lavish 90/10 offers from the federal government.

That’s why only path to Medicaid reform is reconciliation. And there are only a couple bites at that apple in each Senate term. Republicans did debate the alternatives. They decided one big bill would have better political prospects than two bills. We will know soon if they calculated correctly.

There may be a second reconciliation bill with spending cuts or rescissions but that’s a conversation for later.

The most important thing is extending the 2017 tax provisions for individuals. Democrats and Republicans agree on that, despite the rhetoric coming from the left.

So all of the border bill stuff they just passed isn't needed?

Weird

All it took was a president willing to fix it.
He didn't fix it.
He put a band aid on it in state of emergency.

No new judges. No new reform.
Still a huge backlog of cases.

Yah, you'd be fine to be in a perpetual state.of.emergency to declare dear.leader the final word.....that's the maga way

I want healthcare for all, correct. But there's ways to do this without increasing debt. Have to address issues upstream.

Yes, they made a bad decision and didn't fix anything.

They should've made the top tier less of a cut. Would've made the deficit less impactful

😑

🤬

🙄

Notice how BabyBoobs (a total POS MAGAt) completely ignores Intrigued42’s extremely relevant report from Arkansas which serves as a DAMNING indictment of ONE of the MAIN provisions (FLAWS) in The One Butt Ugly Bill (government management / oversight of the work requirement system that determines eligibility for Medicaid).

The same POS MAGAts ( like BabyBoobs) that constantly scream about how government CAN’T DO ANYTHING RIGHT are now putting TOTAL FAITH in government to handle the hugely complex and involved process of determining eligibility for Medicaid based on compliance with work requirements, etc.

😳

😑

Damn. Now I have to track down Rory’s thread about MAGAt republicans who suddenly trust government implicitly.

😑

👉 BabyBoobs 🤣

We. Told. Them. So.

Yes, look at the border numbers. It’s sealed. Yes, I’d prefer most of the enforcement funding in the bill to be allocated to defense and/or deficit reduction. And yes, recognizing that another open borders Democrat could be elected president in 2028 I agree it would be a good idea to codify President Trump’s successful EOs into law.

So not fixed. Fixed indicates permanent remediation.

Got it.

LOL! Please explain to me how they seal it when people cross it all the time.

Glad you want these incredibly successful policies made permanent. Write your Congressional delegation and ask them to codify the Trump administration’s border policies into law.

He has no real policy except blocking the border, which cannot be codified. National guard at the border cannot be codified.

Immigration laws need to be reformed and his policies aren't practical for any type of permanent reform.

Of course the current policies can be codified by Congress, but if you don’t believe that, then enjoy the next 3.5 years and vote Republican in 2028.

Perpetual fake emergencies cannot be codified.
Giving more power to the Executive certainly should not be made permanent. That's how we got the Patriot Act

Perhaps your party can propose legislation that maintains current border encounter levels.

I don't care about levels. I care about an ability to properly allow and enforce asylum laws, whatever they may be. The Senate bills was the proper first step but Trump couldn't handle Congress not giving him a win.

Thanks for acknowledging you don’t care about levels of border encounters. When there were hundreds of thousands of them every month, many of us saw that as a problem. Now it’s a trickle. All it took was a president with the determination to get the job done.

Don’t check mine. Check US Customs and Border Control numbers. If you think they are similar to the numbers under previous administrations you are misinformed.
You believe the numbers that agree with your racism from a felon who was convicted of defrauding you, BatteredWifeBabyBoomer.

I realize you’re a little slower than the rest of us, possibly because of the side effects of your psych meds, so I’ll share a couple things with you.

The CBO is the Congressional Budget Office. The numbers I shared were produced by the CBO. They are independent of the executive branch of government. President Trump doesn’t serve in Congress. He holds the executive office.

The felon disagrees with you because he knows he controls all aspects of government, peasant.

Remember 10 minutes ago when you didn't believe the CBO numbers as far as you could throw an empty JD bottle?

You're in a cult, you delusional drunk dummy.

It's so cute how they've internalized "Democratic President" as a synonym for "open border" and "Republican President" for "closed borders".

Because we've always been at war with Eastasia. :cautious:

Deep breath. Take your meds. I shared CBO projections and explained their assumptions.

Border encounters were reduced to a trickle within two months under President Trump. Look it up.
