šŸ”PLP's Bazaar of the Bizarre: A Study Hall for the Deviant and Delightful

Guys! I have some pretty crazy deadlines for school this week. How are you with meeting deadlines and keeping your focus? Do you need stationary? Rewards?

Send coffee!!
Hmmm… I got through college with lots of coffee and adderall fueled all-nighters. The focus would only be awarded to me when the fire was under my feet at the last possible second.

… don’t recommend.

But also rewards and an accountability buddy. Those I do recommend.

I'm sensitive to caffeine and coffee makes me vibrate in a way I think you'd find most pleasant ;) a red bull almost killed me once (ok 3 red bulls) and I think an Adderall might make me Super Saiyan at my age. šŸ˜‚

But rewards? Yes. Someone being proud of me? Very motivating. Avoiding disappointment???? The MOST motivating.

I’m considered to be very driven professionally but in reality I don’t think I would get anything done without deadlines/external pressure of some sort

That's interesting and probably true for me in some ways.

I'm definitely a - let's plan to have people over so I can be motivated to deep clean the house - kinda gal. 😬

I love the Bobs. And I feel this way entirely about work but things with school, things for others? Those things matter so so so much more.
For sure. Other people matter. School is sorta a case by case basis. Learning things for the joy of learning is wonderful and my favorite thing. I’m a big fan of knowledge for the sake of knowledge. But if it’s just to check off some boxes for a certification…harder for me to care.

This one is the easiest strategy for me to implement independently.

This is motivating for me but only garnering the pride of one specific archetype šŸ™ƒ

See also: avoiding consequences. Very motivating.

My husband and I have this conversation every time we whirlwind clean the house for guests. ā€œWe should have people over more oftenā€ 🤣

Even though I feel like I've lived 100s of lives and achieved so much and I am thriving and I have made a life that my younger self might have barely dared to imagine and I am safe and I am loved and I am raising children with stability and care.....

I still think, maybe I would have achieved more if I had to work to deadlines.

But right now I'm drinking caffeine from tea rather than coffee with my feet way up high.

I have a good track record with meeting deadlines. Procrastination and/or anxiety may be involved, depending on the task. Avoiding negative consequences can be motivating. If the task is something meaningful to me, performing it well is often reward enough.
