In spite of my previous responses, the more i think about this question the more I think it's wrong-headed. Because isn't the whole “point” of being bi that we don't have to choose?

That seems like it would only apply to someone who doesn't feel any differently about men vs women vs the rest.

To hear the "pan" people tell it, that's how at least some of them say they relate to the gender of their partners.

Doesn't make sense to me. Human genders and human bodies are very different. Of course you want to choose one at some times and choose differently at some other times.

Feeling differently doesn't even necessarily have to mean having a preference, it just means that one kind of gender and body doesn't make you feel the same way as another kind of gender and body.

When I was in a sexually exclusive LTR with a man, it was very very hard for me to go without women. In fact I wasn't 100% faithful for those four years (longest relationship besides my wife). But in a sexually exclusive LTR with a woman, I have no problem just kind of forgetting about other people, regardless of gender.

My marriage is not sexually exclusive, so there's that, but. Just answering the original question.
