The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

Nearly as spectacular as your boobs Liliana!
You're new here, AS, so if you haven't gotten our welcoming message we give to ALL newcomers, here it is, courtesy of MissK:

There looks to be some new folks in the group...

We run this thread a little differently.

Read the first post...goes over the "rules" so to speak.

I will summarize:
1. No religion
2. No politics
3. No drama
4. No hitting on the women-- dm the person, if interested.... if they don't respond.... there is your answer.

I will add
5. For God sake read a profile before you dm the wrong person.
6. If your first post is heavy on the innuendo ..... you need to slow your roll

This thread is like the bar cheers or the corner coffee shop. We are FRIENDS here and not like other threads...we are fiercely protective of the vibe and eachother. If this sounds like a place you would like, stick around.... if not there are eleventy billion other threads that will suit your needs.

To get an idea of the vibe I would scroll through the last 10 pages or so and you will see.

First, you need better dirty secrets!

Now the boring bit. Managing people is one of the most difficult jobs there is because people are complex. A team is just a group of individuals working towards a common goal. To make a team function effectively you need to understand the real-life issues and personal motivations of the individuals. That means investing time in getting to know people and showing that you understand their issues. Sometimes it means being honest with someone that your company/department is unlikely to be able to meet their goals and helping them move on.

As for teambuilding exercises, my experience is that your best option is to periodically, no more than once a quarter, one of which is a Christmas party, pay for a night out of low level entertainment involving food and drink. Get them together for a couple of hours to let their hair down and then carry on. I attended numerous 'professional' teambuilding' events full of unimaginative ideas and slogans and never saw one that was better than showing co-workers that you understood their life/work balance and were honest with them.

Now, back to pics of peoples flowers ;)
I love this, NC! What an astute assessment of management. It's all about people skills. Some have them; some don't. The unfortunate thing is that when companies promote from within, they tend to promote good workers without giving them education on management of others. It's a soft skill that not many possess innately.

Good morning all. I woke at 430 am due to sinus pressure again. I have done everything to prevent it except sleep upright in a chair. A recliner may be in my future 🤣.

Speaking of dentist, I have my regular teeth cleaning and hope for no issues. Later I have a massage. Now some like Lilli, have a personal trainer, whereas I prefer the strong hands of a woman masseuse. 😉

Have a great day.
I should schedule a massage. I used to get one on a regular basis.

Thank you all for the wonderful replies to my tooth situation. The oral surgeon was recommending the root canal, and since the "experts" on here agree, I think that is the path I shall travel.
Take some ibuprofen or other pain reliever before you go in. It will help. 🫂

If you have a great deal of anxiety, ask your dentist for an anxiolytic like ativan or Valium. You will need someone to drive you to and from the procedure. Actually, it's probably a good idea to have a driver in any case.

I would be a terrible manager....
I would occasionally like to win at something and for my manager to not always take the option where underperformers aren't Molly coddled and given every opportunity to continue be an underperformer...
And where the option she pics doesn't cause me to have to do more work and for them to do less
What would happen if you just did the same work as the others? 🫂🫂
