And that is why I could not live in a tiny town and/or not near the coast anymore. I dont trust landlocked states or areas for sushi/seafood etc. Sorry, just not getting fish in Denver or Chicago or whatever.
Absolutely!! I'm so spoiled being near Seattle 😇 a hop skip to Vancouver and world class international food.

DTF was once rated a top 10 restaurant in the world. No cap.

Now...personally I think its quite good but no...its not a top 10 restaurant in the world. But they do a damn good job.
The Xiao Long Bao is top shelf. The green beans with garlic is chef's kiss. The pork chop fried rice is delish. The shanghai rice cakes, the pork bao...all muy bien for sure. Also likely the 3rd best potstickers Ive ever had (best ever were in Tokyo, 2nd best ever in Vancouver, Canada...for me).

side note: DTF stands for something different haha
I think DTF does a great job for how consistent it is across their locations. I have had better dumplings sure, but DTF is well done and well done consistently. Just my opinion.

Assuming you are allowed into Canada that is. Frankly, I fully understand Canada not wanting anything to do with the USA for the next few years and possibly beyond. Then again, I would be mroe than fucking pleased if Calif/Oregon/Wash and NY/NH/VT/Maine/Mass/Conn/RI all secede and join Canada. Any other states are free to join too but some we dont want for sure, but I wont name names.

Between all the tech, agriculture, alcohol (wine and beer primarily), coffee, auto industry, film/tv industries, financial industries, and things like dairy, chemicals and more...Canada would become a top 5 country in the world (Calif is #5 in the world by itself actually) for GDP/$/power etc! Those states get a better leader, better healthcare, better education, better gun rights, better environmental protections...and canada would have much more options for tech, produce, some of the finest universities and hospitals in the world...its a win win. Please adopt us Canada.

Kit our dream date tbd would be for Chicago food. (Note that optimism) I assure you we have good fish in Chicago to fuel the restaurant scene. I personally dont partake because a shellfish allergy has put me off from aquatic food. I’ve had some pretty good maki rolls from stoners I know.

I'd love for that to happen! It would definitely be an upgrade in my quality of life to not have to worry about going bankrupt over healthcare or living under the threat of millions of people armed with assault rifles!

We can agree to disagree there. I am anything but a fan of "midwest cuisine"...sorry. Im not a "meat and potatoes" type of person. And I dont enjoy your pizza AS MUCH as many other styles...but I'd still eat it for sure!
And good fish sure, but its frozen first. I know theres some great restaurants there, but I vastly prefer the coast for a variety of reasons.
You know whata maki roll is right? Like...shellfish can be in a maki roll you understand? Or was I misunderstanding your statement.

We would probably let him in.
Just mentioning knowing Kitana will get you special privileges everywhere.

oh i know that is why im very selective about where i order rolls from. I was laughing as I wrote that thinking “I don’t think Kit’s fit figure and Chicago food go together.” But i was being a smartass

im sure there are plenty of people in Chicago, Minny, Detroit, Indy, Milwaukee, Cleveland, Cinci and so on that are on the thinner side of the equation. I know several in Ohio at any rate! But yeah...that style of eating is not my thing as a general rule...but admittedly, comfort food like mac and cheese, grilled cheese with creamy tomato soup etc...is always lovely on a colder day
