ISOLIRW in Berlin, I was stationed there in the mid 50s occupation troops they called us. I stood guard at Spandau prison with Hess Speer and Von Shirach there.I was on a group tour, so it was probably covered in some fee I wasn’t aware of. When in “West” Berlin, they gave us the opportunity to walk into East Berlin, but warned us we’d have to exchange a minimum of 10 or 20 marks (don’t recall exactly, maybe that’s an even better indicator of age) into Östmark, and that you had to spend it or surrender it upon coming back (and there was really nothing much available to spend it on, so I passed)
Me too. Well these days cans and plastic bottles are traded back for money just as well, but they don't wash and reuse the bottles, it all goes via material recycling...I remember when soda came in glass bottles. You kept them to trade back in for money
We would save up for 6 month or so. Then it was a nice little bit of pocket money! I remember sorting them because they had different resale value.Me too. And you also got money from trading back the crate.
We had a recycling skip up our local Tesco about 10 years ago, remember you could put glass and aluminium cans in and get Tesco club card points, 1 point for 2 cans or bottles. I used to take bin bags full and get 50 to 100 points at a time from thereWe would save up for 6 month or so. Then it was a nice little bit of pocket money! I remember my first job was sorting cans and bottles to the various soda companies back before that was automated.I remember when soda came in glass bottles. You kept them to trade back in for money
Pebbles is a little kinky nowadaysWhen Pebbles was born.
We do it now though, I've got a load of Lego Star Wars that I collect, all built but I've kept the boxes tooI am old enough to remember when you bought toys to play with. Not to keep in a box and hope you could make money years later!
Here the return robot did that already back in my childhood. No sorting at home.We would save up for 6 month or so. Then it was a nice little bit of pocket money! I remember sorting them because they had different resale value.
