The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

Well it was an exciting council meeting tonight. I was sitting there being all councilwoman like, asking good questions making good decisions. And a resident who was upset because he got a lien on his property because he didn't pay his local income taxes lost his ever loving mind. Now keep in mind he got mad at stupid s***. He wouldn't let Jason talk he wanted to talk about it out of order he took up 20 minutes of the meeting which usually isn't allowed we tried to help him. He doesn't understand how stuff works, and he is absolutely insistent that we are out to get him and take his property away. Said he was poor lived in the village for over 10 years and there's never paid income tax before and the bill was $652 and he doesn't have $652. And yet he's adding on to his house bought a new camper over the winter etc etc etc. He was beside himself. Luckily we have Village Police there. Even our police was like simmer down. He doesn't understand the difference between property taxes and income taxes and talked about getting $1,000 back and all this other stuff. Which is wrong. And he was not wanting to be helped he was just there to complain and yell at us. The mayor has the patience of a saint. But I tried to call him tonight and he didn't answer. I think he's done for now. Either that or his partner got home and he didn't want to take away time from him. He was insistent that we had to have a tax person on our board but we told them the administrator of local taxes is Rita they are the person that we use, along with a lot of other villages in Ohio who don't have the money to hire a tax specialist. He was also upset when we were talking about getting a new police cruiser for $7,000 including all the equipment except for radios from a village who had industry move in, and has a $6 million dollar year budget ours is like a tenth of that less than that. And he started with I don't want this Village to grow it's needs to stay small. We don't want all these taxes. Then he said is that what your intentions are and the mayor tried to explain to him that in order to survive we have to grow. Oh man that really ticked him off. I hate confrontation. What really made me nervous is when at the end of it he would stare at the mayor and then he would look to his left and look at the police officers then he would look at the mayor and back at the police officers. It was like active shooter type situation he didn't have a gun, but it was a little spooky. Small government is not for the week of heart

Oh man. I don’t think any government is for the faint of heart.

You gotta have some pretty thick skin. It’s thankless, especially at the local level.

Good morning OM (thanks for humor) and MissK and others lurking. Good evening Lilli!

Called into emergency grandpa duty this morning. Snow came last night but the roads are OK. My daughter has to deal with a low tire issue this morning. I will drive safe. I never had a parent living close to me when I had children and car issues. Somehow I managed. My kids are spoiled a bit. I have always been a better helper and caregiver than a taker.
You're a great dad and grampa! Your kids and grands are lucky to have you so close and so willing to help. ❤️ ❤️

If it turned off really cold, sometimes those tire pressure monitor thingies will show some bogus low tire readings. Toyotas seem to be touchy. The tire stores get a herd of nervous Nellie's some mornings.

I was one of those once when I wuz learnt this.
I would be one of the nervous Nellies! I can't stand to have a problem with my car. I do take good care of them and get them regularly serviced. However, once I feel it's unreliable, it goes.

Sometimes I need to remind my wife she's who said "Yes". She knew full well what she was getting into, and said yes anyway.
No take backs! 🤣
I reminded my hubs HE asked ME. I made him wait 1.5 years and three wedding dates before we finally got married. He needed to meet all the "girls!" I wanted to make sure he knew what he was getting into! 🤣🤣🤣

I have a couple but they are really big.....

Saying yes to something and not doing it..
"Honey will you get gas for the lawn mower for saturday"
"Sure will... can stop on the way back from waffle house"

On Saturday no gas to be had.....

I am not saying people don't forget but shit.... somewhere on that list should be my asks.... esp if mine are replaces with Joe wanted me to or my sister/brother/cousin needed.....

I dont always have to be #1.... but I am.cooking your meals, doing your laundry and putting out... I mean shit appreciate me
You're right! You shouldn't have to take care of someone else without getting some of your needs met. 🫂❤️🫂

Hola’ friends and neighbors! Haven’t been around due to some RL craziness. Hope everyone is doing well. Gonna be hit or miss for me for the next couple of months. I took two weeks off and I’m down 200 pages! Ahaha! This thread moves at the speed of light!

Quick MZ before the clock strikes noon!

Glad you're back, H! How is your wife's post-op progression? 🫂🥰😘

Yes! She’s doing extremely well after the first couple of days of lots of pain. Exercising and can now stand and shower without my help (darn😂). Got my mother moved out and back into her house and we’ve taken this opportunity to really clean house and downsize things.

Juggling two households is fun! 😰.

Thanks for the kind words. I should have dropped in before this to say hello. I forgot how we all have worried over others.
Not to worry, H! We knew you were likely busy! I'm so glad your wife's progress has improved since the early days. 🫂🫂

I was in the office today, and had a virtual happy hour w a couple of cold coworkers - one lives in FL and the other I just visited in Houston when I was in TX a few weeks ago.

Then my boss crashed - which was a really good thing! We traded work gossip, caught up, told funny stories about people at work and I had a few shits of Japanese whiskey.

Mrs wonderer joined in too. We all know each other.

It was fun!!

For desert, we had some double fudge peanut butter brownies made by @likes2watchU .

Sooooooooooo good.
Now we know we need to bring tribute when visiting W! 🤣🤣🤣
