Went to orientation today. Lots of admin stuff. The usual.
But then, while I'm gone, or maybe because I'm gone, mom decides to call my brother and ask for $1600 because the woman who use to take care of her brought a bunch of stolen clothes into the house and changed them for her wigs and she's afraid FBI is going to come take her away for harboring stolen goods. *Deep breath*

I leave for one day and...

Ok, now, my brother is blowing up my phone while I'm in orientation just 5 minutes from his house and is leaving messages I can't return quickly. I finally get through to him and remind him this is an ongoing paranoia of hers and that she doesn't recognize her own clothes anymore. And the wigs thing...I have no idea.

He asks me about the $1600 and if we need it and I tell him no. He wants to make sure she hasn't done something silly behind our backs and I explain that if she has, we sure aren't going to blindly throw money at it.

My realtor called today as well. She had a good showing of our house today and they were very interested in the place. Now we just have to see if the banks are as interested in loaning her money for it. She's a local teacher with a small son. Single mother in assuming. I wish her well if she likes it.

Can't sleep. I wonder why?

I have a few times. I have distant relatives there.

Go to all of the usual touristy places. Tiergarten, brandenburg gate, reichstag. They’re all nearby. There’s patched up bullet holes all over the place in former East Berlin.

Berlin Wall is still in a few places. East side gallery and the wall museum. There’s a nice one near the flea market in Maurpark too. Flea market is pretty good - open Sundays only in memory serves.

There a ton of cool old buildings and museums to explore too in the central and east Berlin part. Nice old churches and the old East German tv tower.

U-bahn and s-bahn (subways) are cheap and fairly easy and intuitive. The zoo is amazing.

I survived day one of training. Forgot a couple of documents and am scrambling to get copies sent across the state. Going to be interesting. Thankfully the instructor's rather chill and is allowing me to continue regardless. Right now it feels like drinking from a fire hose. We'll see how it goes.

I may go fishing maybe Wednesday or Thursday . Made friends w a neighbor in the rv park and he had a boatload of fishing poles for me to use.

Right now redfish and drum seem to be most prevalent. Good way to pass the day.

I’ll be like that guy OM showed, catching my b ass! 😂
