The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

Lots of relationship talk today. I'm in my head the last couple of days as well. Been snippy and quiet at the same time.

Had to apologize to my 12 year old last night for being impatient and snippy. I told her it was me and not her and she made me laugh, "Wow dad! I've never heard you say that. You must be growing up.". After my shock wore off, I had to chuckle and shake my head.

I was gonna log out of the game we were playing together but that deserved a positive response. She proceeded to kick my butt (properly spelled and grammatically correct use) online.

Still in my shit though. 🫤

I’m sorry you’re still in the shit. Happens to the best of us.

Still, you were honest w your daughter and honest w yourself.

And then she beat the shit outta you (on the game!) 😂

Still 3 pages behind, but that's Sunday for ya...
Sadly, day one as an orphan.
I'm so sorry. That "orphan" feeling can rock you on your pins. It's uniquely wild.
I'm so sorry for your loss. As others have said, more eloquently, the loss of a parent hits differently. And once all parents are gone? You can feel adrift in a way.
We're here for you. Port in the storm and all that. 🫂
She is doing well and was released yesterday.
Excellent news!!! Keep up the good work, both of you. 🎉 🥳
I'm almost back to where I was when my foot acted up.
Woot!! Way to go! Must feel good. 🎉
Lol.... I came back to this thread and was on page 1953....
I forwent scrolling that many.messages 😳😳🥺
Exactly - yesterday was the 1 year anniversary of this thread... and we're already over 2,000 pages and 53,000 posts
You're way more dedicated than I am ..... I definitely would have skipped ahead 😂
Right? And there's a relief in knowing that skipping ahead is perfectly fine!!
Ohhhhhh... believe me...
I looked at my fingers
They looked back at me n all I heard was "Yeahhh....... NAHHHHHHHHH, don'teven think about it poindexter"
And skip ahead they did...
I've made that same decision before... and will again.
No judgment, no shame, no worries - c'est la vie
It's what happens when both IRL and the café are busy
I remember watching a show about it once...I will have to look it up...or our historian may know
Is this really a rabbit hole you want to go down??
If not - skip this post. Not kidding! You can't unread some of this stuff! Nothing gross or graphic in my post but the links definitely go into more detail.

Tbh - depending on how deep you go and what sources you use, understanding it all almost necessitates one having an advanced degree in Organic Chemistry and a working knowledge of biology, and anatomy & physiology. None of which I possess.

The sources below are mostly plain language. Keep going and at some point that could change.

Ask the USDA: What does natural flavoring mean on a label?
USDA: Natural flavors on Meat and Poultry Labels
EWG: Natural vs Artificial Flavors
(EWG = Environmental Working Group)
Center for Responsible Food Business: Decoding Food Labels - What Consumers Should Know
Cooks Vanilla: What are Natural Flavors?
(mentions the beaver & strawberry ice cream)
Center for Science in the Public Interest: Secret ingredients lurk in food...
A'Del: Artificial and Natural Flavor 101
Raw Generation: The Raw Truth About Natural Flavors
(this one mentions some of those flavor sources that titillate)
Mind you - all of the above merely scratches the surface of this topic. Happy reading and good luck!
I haven't shaved my legs in years..... they grow no hair and never have...if I get a spare hair they are fine and light I used to have to shave my toes....hahahahaha
Same. Started w/ sugaring in my 20s then graduated to waxing. Somewhere in the mix I picked up an original Epilady. I now have a new epilator and tend to wax only when I want full leg or "wearing a bathing suit" level coverage. Much easier for a professional to take care of it in those cases.

I had been breaking out when shaving no matter which products and razors I tried. Did not have that issue with sugaring, waxing, or epilating. So made the switch and never looked back.

I now have lots of areas that don't grow hair anymore and others where the hair is thinner and comes out very easily. When I do get a wax, what would have taken 2 hours to clear when I was first transitioning from shaving now takes 20 or 30 minutes. Mostly painless, too. A few spots it may feel like a band-aid being pulled off but only for about 4 seconds. I've actually been known to fall asleep while getting my legs waxed. I find it very relaxing - especially for someone else to do all the work.
Have you ever tried sugaring...gentler than wax
I started w/ sugaring 30+ years ago. Works same as wax, but allows you to change your mind or refine the placement if needed. A warm, damp washcloth to dissolve the sugar, then dry and start again.
I would not recommend going all the way to India just to get the ice cream tho…
That tv food travel show level of dedication. what a lovely experience!

I love 💘 the sound of you and your daughter's relationship!
Major KUDOS to both of you!

Here. Settling in. Nice enough place to be. Not too far from the job like the first place I picked. And it's affordable - translation: I make money on this one on the per diem.

Glad I brought a larger wattage light bulb. They always do them up dim.

Fuck, mine is LED so it's not like it eats juice or anything.
