The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

That last bit is when we finally finish growing up, methinks. Dr. Tyler is Googling all of her old college boyfriends and wasting a bunch of time engaging in I Wonder Ifs. Maybe it's part of beginning to circle the drain. I know that we examine our lives in the rear view mirror, but it's the Fantasyland aspect that strikes me as a whole big bunch of hypothetical bullshit. Then again, she hasn't taken up drive-by shootings, so there's that.
Yeah..... live for today....

When I try to fix the past or predict the future I have to do a big reset......

Ot does... my mom has macula degeneration and her brain is slowing down a bit.. I love love love her and she asked me to drive her to Minnesota to visit her remaining siblings and to see her patents Graves etc...... I feel like we r on a farewell tour....... we are going in may
😍😒
My heart goes out to you... but I'm glad that you have each other and that you can share this time, to be with her.

I was blessed to be on a 28/28 day rotation during my father's "wind down" and I wouldn't take a million dollars for one minute that I got to spend with him.

My dad was in the navy in ww2 and fought against the Japanese on a destroyer escort.

He absolutely hated them. But over time, he mellowed. He was a ford guy too, but his last car was a Subaru.

I said they actually made the planes in ww2. He shrugged. He didn’t care anymore.

He had let go, I think.

(Plus he did give me a love for Godzilla movies… somehow they were on the table)
My norwegian mom will occasionally make funny comments about Swedish people and Germans.... she lived through ww2 as well....
During the Vietnam War she and my grandpa worked at an ammunition factory. My mom inspected to make sure firing pins were on straight (I think I am saying that correctly) and my grandpa did security/ maintenance

Ignition caps maybe?

Sounds like royal houses from Game of Thrones.
Speaking of…House of the Dragon new season should be dropping in a couple of months.

Morning all. Had fun at our oyster roast. Good catching up with some coworkers I haven’t seen since the last one. Wife goes in for her checkup today so, another milestone to recovery.

Have a great day! Santa Fe sunrise MZ:

Does your mom get treatments for her macular degeneration?

My mom did for 20 years and had amazing eyesight all the way to the end.

If it is a farewell tour (even if it ain’t) it would be some great time to spend with your mom and hear her memories!

I’m glad you got to spend some QT with your dad in his final phase. I’m sure it meant a lot to him too.

Yeah she has gotten the shots. 1 eye is worse than the other. She only has peripheral vision... she wants to wear an eye patch .... it bothers her.... she can see to take care of the house etc.... her grandma was blind I suspect of the same thing because i remember when I was little that she would turn her head to " see a little bit"

My mother acts like the Japanese performed Pearl Harbor especially to terrify her. She was 9. She loathes the Japanese to this very day.
One of my dad’s friends left his left arm on Iwo Jima. When the 50th anniversary of the battle was coming up, the VFW reached out to him to see if he’d be interested in going back for the commemoration. His quote…”I ain’t going back over there and shaking their hands. Those bastards tried to kill me!”

I had a great uncle who left 2 legs

For the Germans and soviets weirdly enough. Henry ford was a virulent anti semite and my dad was Jewish, so who knows why he liked his fords so much.

Well, for one thing… they ran and never quit. At least that was our experience. Mine too.
Germany and soviets started out as friends

After ww2 ended Patton said the soviets needed to be dealt with next.... and then he was mortally injured in a car accident.....
