The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

So sorry you're dealing with that, Miss Potassium. To me the worst part about a personality like that is they drive good people away then look around in confusion when only the dregs are left working on the project and things are going south. *sigh*

For me personally it's decision time. In early February I had a mini-meltdown and quit the job I'd had. I threw a ton of applications at Indeed. Then I heard from a security guard company, and interviewed. They do a lot of training before putting someone in the field (a major plus) and I've seen in the last week just how much they see themselves as a team. Someone calls out sick, or has a schedule conflict and the others try to figure out covering the shift before the supervisors step in. Very cool. To advance very far I'd need to get certified in firearms (training that's valuable for more than the job, mind) and take an armed position. I don't want to be in a situation where I might need to shoot someone as part of my job (I know, I know the odds are very against that happening, but you strap on a gun for your job you accept the risk that you might have to do that). So it'll be two months or more of very part-time work to get my company badge while I train. On the other hand, I was contacted this week (before my security card came in) by a company I thought had passed me up. It's a utility-locating company and their training is 2.5 weeks, paid at my starting rate starting on the 24th. They pay 10% less and don't have as clear a path of advancement. On the other hand it's shift work, forty hours a week, and wouldn't interfere as much with seeing my kiddos. I know which way I'm leaning, just putting this here to get it out of my head.

Apologies for the wall o' text. Hope you all have a wonderful Friday.
I wish you luck on the job search and opportunities!!

Good luck however you choose!

Yes, it was a fun day in the office when a co-worker was reading the fine print on the retirement policy.

Blah-blah-blah... "will immediately suspend any survivor option or survivor benefit otherwise due an individual if that person is charged with causing the death of a member. Any person who would normally qualify for a benefit who is found guilty of causing the death of a member will have his or her benefit permanently revoked."

PUPPY!!!!!
So you're saying your significant other or husband or wife can't kill you and collect, what phone is that?

Number one, fuck that twat on the council.

Being in local government can be a pain in the ass and require very thick skin. I’m a vindictive prick, so I might just stay on the council just to be a pain in her ass and treat her extra special.

But I also wouldn’t blame you for not being on the council, because it is thankless work (two of my neighbor neighbors from the township council). No matter what decision you make, I’m sure it will be the best one for you.
I am not letting her run me off.... I am ready for her.....
She didn't respect nice sweet k

She is gonna despise the next iteration of miss k she is gonna get.....

Heh, the decision got made for me, or nearly so. The guard company contacted me to ask if I could work tomorrow (post site, no serious training needed) from 6pm to 6am. I could do that, though not easily. Then they had me scheduled for four 12-hour shifts next week during the day. Apparently I hadn't stated clearly that I was looking to stay on one shift so my sleep schedule doesn't drop out. So utility location it is. Just need to find someone to check on my cat while I'm training out of town. The guard company's scheduler was surprisingly understanding and took me off the schedule right away after clearly stating that if I have time and want a shift to reach out to them.

@HumpDayHoratio

How is the Mrs?

Pain controlled?

Moving around?

Super important to have that pain controlled so that whatever therapy is prescribed can be done and range of movement preserved.

Also moving around prevents surgery related complications...
We were home by 2 and other than some initial pain, she kept up with her meds and did walk some. Today she’s supposed to be walking 10mins out of every hour but she’s backsliding already. I’ve gotten on her but we were both worn out from sleeping on the couch last night and all the interruptions. So I gave her some slack…I’ll crack down as the days move forward! πŸ˜‚

Thanks for checking up on us and for the info! Sitting around today, I found this…I hope it posts….

Sounds promising... Utility job by day and the security gig as needed? Pretty nice
I love that little kitty... and that Shaq Shimmy reminds me of someone I miss. Fond memories

GET UP AND WALK!!! Doesn't need to be much. First few days for me was laps around the nurses station. So maybe just a lap around the house - if you can make a circle. If not then a lap up then down the longest hallway. But get moving... please and thank you.
I love Fridayssssss! 😘
