The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

@Wat_Tyler

I may be getting a cat. My friend has a stray that showed up. She used to be the head of the Humane Society in the county she lived in. So he is very friendly, can be pet and picked up, so she thinks he was dumped. About a year old. And he wants to come in. So she's going to catch him, and then take him to get spayed his shots and check for feline leukemia. I will keep you posted

He is super skinny, so she is feeding him, and set him up with a box in the shed. She is currently a dog sitting a dog that is not cat friendly, so she is leaving Thursday and that is when she will bring the cat inside. Apparently he's had some kind of human contact cuz he's very friendly. I'll send you a pic here in a sec

Good on you, Hero O' Mine!!!

I have never had an orange cat. The landlady had a big fat orange fella when we first met. He was her old cat. He died a couple of years ago. He liked me a lot, and all the cats liked him. He didn't like Geezer, but that was okay, because Ethyl hated him and took his cat tower from him like Alexander at Tyre.

He will love you forever.

My wife and to some degree my daughter volunteer for a rescue so we ALWAYS have a foster cat or two around here. I don't mind cats but they LOVE them. Actually they just love animals....cats are just a piece of this animal puzzle.

So as I mentioned back whenever on here: I basically live in a zoo lol

I love talking about weight loss achievements and goals. It gets really juicy when we talk about sliding back on them and how we take responsibility for them and get right back up knowing there is no shame, only the human experience.

I lost 100 pounds last year and wanted to lose another 50 or so. I look really good in the 170 range wearing size 30's.

Then tragedy happened. The trucking industry was going through a flux and my miles were cut in half. We were struggling financially. That's when Mom was obviously going downhill enough to have us all worried.

So, I moved back "temporarily" to help out , set things straight, and ease our financial woes. Things were worse than expected when we got here.

One thing led to another and now I'm kinda stuck with no income waiting on the health care system that is fast as the speed of smell. We are rapidly running out of savings but Mom is in much better shape with her meds and doctor visits being fixed.

This whole time I've been eating my stress and gained back over 30 pounds. It's been eating at me too. This last week I've been practicing the 24 hour fasting as the diet choices are a nonstarter due to budgeting. That is seeming to work.

Coffee in the morning with nothing till dinner and I'm trying to cut back on portions. Hard to do while starving. I need more protein to stave off the hunger.

Holy Crap! Wall of text. Sorry folks.

But keep up the attempts, K. They will eventually out number the failures. And keep talking about it. Silence is a killer. All ears here.
With you brother. Lost around 15-20 this time last year, mainly just due to work schedule and doing that intermittent fasting routine. Then a couple of vacations and the crazy that’s happened over the last three months I put it all back on added ten for good measure. Had a little health scare and they told me my glucose levels were a “tad” high, so back to the intermittent fasting this time with cutting the sugar in my coffee 😠 and just weeding out my sweet tooth.

I dropped 10 fairly quickly but sort of backslid when I moved my mother in. Vacation upcoming so hopefully some walks in the spring weather and getting out on the water will help also. The struggle is real like you posted. Let’s start encouraging each other more. Maybe us chatting in the open will help others in their quest!

Big Ol’ Jet Airliner taking me home today! Got to visit a cowboy steak house I haven’t been to in 30 odd years last night! If ever in Tucson, hit Pinnacle Peaks. The atmosphere and food hadn’t changed in 30 yrs but the prices sure had! 🤣. When we were regulars here in the early 90’s you could get a 22oz steak, all the Fix’ns, and an iced tea for $14.99. It’s closer to $40 now but still was a nice walk down memory lane.

I’ve shifted gear from Alpine spring to desert SW spring. inspiration hits when it hits!

I switched to a super healthy (and very enjoyable) anti-inflammatory diet after three bouts of Covid triggered pain all over my body linked to arthritis.

The pain mostly went away and the happy by-product was a significant loss in weight.

Happy to share how I did it.
Kent, post the anti-inflammatory diet if you would please. I’ve seen a few things but would love to hear about a success story from a trusted source.

Cut out sugar and all processed foods, and mainly eat meals with high veggie content plus fish and chicken for protein. (I had to cut out acidic foods that caused pain, including tomatoes, red peppers and chillis, plus a few other things including red wine).

Carbs at weekends only.

Make loads of tasty green veggie soup, mainly from frozen veg including onions, spinach, cabbage, sprouts, kale, leeks, broccoli, cauliflower, plus loads of peas to thicken it up, and add a fresh bag of watercress a few minutes before mixing it up with a stick blender. Also add any salad ingredients that are nearing their sell-by date.

I add veggie stock and loads of herbs and spices (garlic, ginger, turmeric, parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme etc) to give it loads of flavour.

Eating "five a day" is a myth. If you play loads of sport, like i do, you need 15 a day! This soup delivers that.

It also makes your digestive system ruthlessly efficient!
I didn’t scroll down fast enough…

Please don't ever feel ashamed. Long-term weight loss is not a smooth curve. There will always be times when a few pounds go back on, when you over eat at times of stress etc. But those small increases serve as an incentive to get back on track. Try setting smaller goals, maybe 3 pounds and then give yourself a treat. Whatever works for you. But know that you can always talk about it here.
I have a few milestones met and still to come.

I wanted a sweatshirt from this specific company -- I ordered it. They are super expensive but if I pre order was cheaper so I did....... Can't wait to get it.

When I get to a certain point I am getting a new mattress

And at goal i am going to go to Europe....haven't decided where yet ...... me and Lilianna want to go see @Greylag...... and his pups 🐕
