It’s root crop weather. We’re planting beets in a few weeks. We’re planning carrots and beats today
Potatoes soon
It’s 26 acres. Mostly woodland and we sell firewood. I don’t take down any trees, enough fall and I just cut them up and then split it into firewood.Wow. Is it a cattle farm? How big it is? I have always loved countryside
And six chains! One acre equals 43,560 square feet.

And six chains!
We went to the county Hall of records when we bought our farm and looked at all the old property deeds. And they literally used to use a chain as a unit of measurement.
The old property deeds from about the 1920s and earlier were all handwritten.
Now… now, how many bushels are in 16 chains, 2 drams and 6 pecks?
How many furlongs are in a peck? And a chain has 100 links.
The old surveyor who laid out a part of the town that Dr. Tyler grew up in was a drunk. The story goes that he broke his chain and took it to the local blacksmith to have it mended. Seems the broken link turned up gone, so the blacksmith opened another and mended it with 99 links. So, that end of town has a fucked up layout and everything is just a touch short.
No idea if this fable is so, but it makes a good story.
e/t/a: an acre is one chain by 10 chains.
I really want this to be true! And a chain has 100 links.
