The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

Wow. Is it a cattle farm? How big it is? I have always loved countryside
It’s 26 acres. Mostly woodland and we sell firewood. I don’t take down any trees, enough fall and I just cut them up and then split it into firewood.

We also sell pumpkins, gourds, sunflowers and cut flowers. Also seedlings in the spring.

No animals tho, but thinking about chickens.

We also let our neighbors hunt deer on our property. The deer are an absolutely overpopulated mess here. They eat tons of peoples crops.

They made us venison pot pie w home made sourdough for dinner tonite!

One acre equals 43,560 square feet.

That is a square with sides of about 208.71 feet.
And six chains!

We went to the county Hall of records when we bought our farm and looked at all the old property deeds. And they literally used to use a chain as a unit of measurement.

The old property deeds from about the 1920s and earlier were all handwritten.

Now… now, how many bushels are in 16 chains, 2 drams and 6 pecks?

And a chain has 100 links.

The old surveyor who laid out a part of the town that Dr. Tyler grew up in was a drunk. The story goes that he broke his chain and took it to the local blacksmith to have it mended. Seems the broken link turned up gone, so the blacksmith opened another and mended it with 99 links. So, that end of town has a fucked up layout and everything is just a touch short.

No idea if this fable is so, but it makes a good story.

e/t/a: an acre is one chain by 10 chains.

How many furlongs are in a peck?

I really want this to be true!

So today was quite productive. I rounded about 5 downed ash trees and 1 massive oak tree.

All were victims of the last wind storm about a week ago.

This is about 2-2.5 cords worth of firewood. We e had our best year ever selling firewood, so I want to get on track for next firewood season, starting in October.
