oh most ones i saw had the top of the keyboard too...the case part etc

If the trackpad is working, there's no need to replace the entire keyboard assembly. I checked out a video and it looks like the keyboard I suggested would fit just fine. As far as the slight difference in the arrow keys its up to you.

Other than that, it sounds like a pretty straightforward replacement, Kit. It does involve a bit of 'screwing'. But, I have a feeling 'screwing' is something you're naturally quite adept at.
