🌶️💃🏻🎸Brat House: Boobs, Bums and Bedlam🌶️💃🏻🎸

It is a triangular cut from the bottom sirloin. It is a working muscle, so very flavorful (a cut like a tenderloin is a muscle that isn't used much, so it is super tender, but has a much more mild flavor). It is where two muscles come together, so you have to cut against the grain one way to start, then change when the grain changes.

My favorite way to cook it hang it in a PBC (Pit Barrel Cooker, which looks sort of like an oil barrel with the coals on the bottom, and you hang the food over them on hooks). Gets a brilliant smokey flavor to the crust. But tri-tip also cooks well seared then finished in the oven. For seasoning, all you need is a bit of kosher salt and fresh pepper, though a Santa Maria rub is popular. It actually cooks pretty quickly for a roast.

And yeah, it is far more popular on the West Coast for some reason.
Next time I'm at the butchers I'm asking for one. You think 3lbs for two people is good? Does it shrink much? I'll use the oven method. I live in a small town, so I hope they know what it is. But a butcher's shop should know I would think. It's like we say: "We have one of everything, but just one."!

That is because our people walked across this entire country, to get here. We left the big cities of the east... headed out with wagons and all our belongings, braved the weather, killed some bison, slept outside every night because there was no "inside"... some of those people even ate each other in Donner Pass....

Okay, no idea. I just like making weird shit up. 🤷‍♀️

We get those at Christmas and get a huge one like 6 or 8 ribs. Then we cut it, so we have enough for dinner for two people a few times a year. They are great but not good well done. Sorry.
my uncle does prime rib for christmas, so does my dad. he is like you guys and likes it red and bloody, so he just cuts off my hunk from the end and i finish it in the oven/air fryer after he says its "done"...again, no one is asking any of you to eat my meat. i fucking love it and wouldnt feed your steak to my dog, so lets just change the subject and all calm down. this isnt directed at you btw vastie. i completely understand the preference. my issue is with the tolerance. thats all.

But it's true the Donner pass thing at least. I lived in western MD and when I moved, I moved to the beach on the east coast. Reversed direction! But we all have to live some place. Did your group like Bison? :)

Did you watch the Beyond SNL specials? There are four of them.

The first is called "Five minutes," which is how long you have for your blind audition. They showed a bunch of the old recordings, as well as the actors responding to watching their auditions, some for the first time.

The next shows how the scripts get written over the course of the week, brainstorm to curtain. It is very writer heavy, but I love it.

The next is a whole hour on discussing one sketch. Can you guess which one?

The last was on the weird year when they almost went off the air, and brought in experienced actors rather than newcomers, then fired everyone and started over.

There is also "Ladies, and Gentlemen," which is two hours on the music. That is an amazing show, and the first seven minutes are just fucking briliant.

I am Irish and native. Half of us took a boat, the other half were waiting the whole time.

I’m excited to have some SNL enthusiasts here!!

I worked up in Truckee California for a few months on a special project, just a few miles from where The Donner Party had their horrific experience.

And while most of my family has been here since the mid 1800’s, I don’t have any idea ... 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I am Irish, Scottish, Welsh and German. I think we were in Washington, Oregon, California and Idaho for the last 150 years or so, before that Pennsylvania and Kentucky… and before that, the old country. Before that, the planet Smartassidy.
