I know my role in this house....
  1. Give everyone a dopamine hit by reacting to their posts in the middle of the night.
  2. Play with the other brats in unpredictable ways, so the braternity don't know if my links are safe or if my emojis are coming in hot
  3. Share random wisdom/ stories to make you laugh, giggle, or think.
  4. Occasionally educate and then discipline those who arrive being a work in progress.
  5. Warn you of future shitty days.
My role:
1) Occasionally be amusing
2) Otherwise be annoying.
3) Letterkenny gifs.
4) Ridiculous levels of flirtation.

Okay, that is Dave Grohl. Someone who I massively admire as a human, and as a musician. This is a guy, who was part of a massive, legendary band as the drummer that (I think) won Grammy’s. And after Kurt died, he starts a new band… on guitar and lead vocals… and wins grammys. The man has more talent right now in his left pinky than I have had in my whole body, in my last 3 lifetimes, combined.

But… Foo Fighters? I haven’t heard much of their stuff, and what I did hear, was not … I did not care for it. And I wanted to love it, because he is so overflowing cool! Eventually, someone shared a Foo Fighters tune with me that I liked. And… I have forgotten what it was. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤣🤣🤣🤣
I feel the same way. I was always sad that I worked with Nirvana before Grohl joined (I think Crover or Channing was drumming for them then). And I enjoyed his drumming in Nirvana, but no matter how much I try, most Foo Fighters' songs don't work of me. It isn't that I hate them, but when they come on the radio, I almost automatically see what the other station has going on.

Yeah... that is electronic drums. The legendary drummer, so fucking amazing... DID NOT FUCKING PLAY THIS!

Well... maybe he did. But back then, I was told by one of my mentors, this was electronic bullshit.

If he actually sat down at the drums and played this? Then Phil has my undying respect. if he programmed a drum machine to play this? Then, he get negative credits from me.

I truly hope, he played it on proper drums, in front of microphones to pick it up.
I am still catching up, but that is live drums. When they were recording one of the takes, they had the talkback mic live, pumped up the reverb in the board, and ran it through a gate (a noise limiter that only allows sound in a very specific range, the gate, though). It was an accident, but the combination of compression, reverb, and noise gating ended up with that unique drum sound. The process was found by Collins while recording with Peter Gabriel (I know, your favorite) and then really brought out on his solo work like "In the Air Tonight."

This is your mostly useless piece of sound reinforcement trivia for today...
