Why are writers so scared of of the 40-50 age range for the Mother character? More often than not it's the 18 year old son and his 36,37 or 38 year old mom, I mean, sure it's perfectly possible but feels like the 40-50 age range is much much more realistic.. yes, it's a story, one can make up any scenario one wants. I've read stories where the mom was knocked up at 15 and she's only 33 years of age when she started having sex with her 18 year old son.. It's possible this is a bias on my end, but i feel like the 40-50 range is more exciting; the taboo-ness is heightened because they are older, wiser and generally expected to be more uptight (idk if this makes sense), yet women in this age range are still perfectly beautiful and sexy.. 38 is still too young in my personal opinion... Hell, I am almost 38 but in my head I still feel like I am 25 lol

All the mothers in my few incest stories are in their 40s. I prefer that bit of realism, a mom at 24 or so.

I think a lot of young writers like young moms. Older writers like myself have no problem with a 48 year old, lusty woman.

I tend to make moms in the 40-something range, but rarely state a number. Though there are pictures out there to the contrary, most of the physique and glamour and therefore desirability starts to fade after 50.

I think that for this genre the fact of her being the mother is going to compensate a lot for her not being as attractive as a younger woman. I wrote one where the woman was in her mid-fifties and chubby and both her sons had a thing for her. Readers seemed to appreciate that she wasn't a supermodel but still sexy.

This is so true.. I used to wonder alot about this topic. Putting myself in the shoes of someone who would commit this act. If a son were to want to have sex with his mom (and the opposite as well), under most realistic conditions, IMHO, it's going to be less about how physically attracted they are to each other and much more about breaking that taboo.. that'll be the main driving force.. well at least as far I can surmise.

Instead of "omg you are so beautiful, I am attracted to your looks.. I want to take you out on a date, I will buy you flowers and chocolate and consumate our relationship with sex" and it'll be much more, "You are Mom.. you are supposed to be this respectful, wise, the adult, the parent, the pillar of morality, the authority figure.. yet I have convinced you to suck my dick and spread your legs.. shit this is crazy!! What a sight, what a fucking sight. I can't believe i got you to go this far.. wtf" . doesn't mean bdsm but ya know. Yes, i know, there are many levels to it.. but I feel like that is how most of the psychology will go down. Not down to the exact words but in that type of thinking, ya know, that'll be what's going on in the head most of the time.

I do that with 'she used to be' model/dancer/etc and lost it due to time. Something sparks her need to try and get it back, but she does it for herself. 45-55 can be dynamite if done right.

Mother-son incest was something I never considered until my arrival on Lit. I was recently thinking about a buddy's mom, whom all of his buddies thought was hot. I did some checking a while back and figured she was 36 or 37, back when we were 'that age.' Incest stories between cousins or nephew-aunt always had more appeal to me. There's a prolific writer on here, who does some with grandmother and grandson too. I think they're well done, but Grandma is usually still in her 50's or early 60's.

Haha, I get what you’re saying! The 40-50 age range definitely adds a different layer of complexity and taboo to the dynamic older, wiser, and still super sexy. Maybe writers lean younger because they think it’s “easier” to relate to or more “believable,” but you’re right, older moms bring a whole different vibe. And hey, feeling 25 at 38? Same energy. Age is just a number, right?

In most cases mother son incest occurs with women over 50. Seems we are more receptive, less inhibited to inuendeau , less timid of crossing that line when pregnancy can't occur

I feel like this is the only good reason to even state an age at all.

Otherwise, age isn't relevant to the story, in which case, not stating it would be the better move on the author's part. Letting the reader fill in the blanks with whatever tickles their own fantasy the most.

All of the Mom characters in my stories are in their forties, for some reason I've found I've used 44/45 quite a bit. I think I went mid thirties once because it mattered in the story.

I also tend to go with the son being 20/21 rather than younger because teen just doesn't always sit well with me, unless its a 'son's a virgin' angle. But if I am aiming for a more serious story that involves more than just lust I have the son 20+ so he has a reasonable level of maturity and some prior experience with girls and sex.

I mentioned this in the post.. some writers would do this by having the mom get pregnant while in mid teens, so by the time she started having sex with the son, who is 18, she'd be like 35 or something.. Those don't gel well with me, if some dudes like it that's perfectly. I just wished there more stories where the ages of the mom is like 40s to 50s and the son is of the usual 18. I find it more enjoyable
