The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

I hope it's worth it... it seems to suit my need to "push the envelope" though at 59, I don't feel that need as strongly as I did in my 30s. Lol

I do love many aspects of it. I go to work 8 times a year, seeing things most people never get to see.

It's still a "meritocracy" out here.
It's rare, but when I do talk to people from my office, it's like talking to old family members.

My off time, truly is off time.
Who else gets 2 weeks off after every month on?

Cons... Rough weather is like a bad ride at the fair that you can't get off of.
If one can't handle the solitude, it's like prison, with the added option of drowning. Lol

Honestly, I don't know if I could fit into a dry land 9 to 5 gig again.
Oh, the pay isn't too shabby either.
It all seems to balance out... my longest continuous day was 42 hours.... but many days, I do the square root of Fk'all. Lol
Then it seems to work for you! I'm glad. Not everyone is able to find that. 🥰

Thank you! Sadly, he died young at age 56 from his first heart attack. 😭💔
I'm SOOOO sorry to hear that... that's way too young.
I lost mine in 2019 at 83.
I was blessed to have him and he was my first stop when I came in from the boat... that man never once turned me down for a breakfast invite!

Tons of respect for your mother too!!!!

You had him for a good long time! I hope your happy memories of him bring you comfort and joy! 🫂🫂

Thanks, Jack! Sounds like you averted a major crisis! 👏
Well, Liliana, thank you, I appreciate it. However, I just did what I was supposed to do and when I was supposed to as required by my duties as the Sound and Security watch. The fact there were (and still are) watch standers who will cut corners or "gun deck" their reports or log entries were (and still are) the reasons our skipper wanted to show me how to take the draft readings. I came out 'looking good' because I had a good LPO (Leading Petty Officer) and a really great salty and crusty Chief Petty Officer who ensured I was trained properly.

Thank you again for the kind words.

Old school me would say get out the super glue and duct tape.

There is a reason no one asks old school me medical advice.
No suture kit, no super glue onboard... I looked everywhere. I have JB Weld epoxy resin, but I'm not worried about the cut... it's the hundreds of dollars of pellets inside that I'm trying to save.
I'm a tightwad. Lol

Consistently 4 pages behind... all day long
Finally - caught up for the moment (That moment? That was 3 hours ago now  ) Busy day

My dad loved doing stuff like that!

😍 Storytime!

Nice!

I'm liking this Captain fella

I keep meaning to look up whomever created those cups. Did they make a fortune? B/c they are everywhere on the East Coast!!! Lovely gift idea!

VOCs - in this case, terpenes. I have strong reactions to them... and to lots of the products suggested to flush them out of clothes. I love their practical and medicinal applications... but for other people. I need to keep my distance. 🤷‍♀️

 Have you thought about creating your own Sunrise/Sunset thread? I'd subscribe for another daily dose of Zen.

I really enjoy the wholesome HEA stories, but thinking there may be some humdingers where that feller's involved. 🤨

Figures - "follow the money" 😥

I unintentionally did that once. Did not care for it. 💯 would not recommend.

Christmastime... (likely @Qky75's first Christmas)... mom was resting on the couch because "baby sleeps, you sleep". I was around 6 1/2, so mom was likely pregnant with baby #5. We were both in the family room having some rare quiet time.

Mom: Be a love and plug in mommy's little tree with the lights
Me: Plugs in the tree

This was one of those tabletop trees with fake snow and colored lights. Plug it in, it lights up. Pull the plug out of the socket, it's off. Simple, right?

Yeah - the plug blew up in my hand. Pieces of plastic flew everywhere. Lucky for me, it startled me enough to drop the whole thing or I might have been stuck holding a live wire.

The inside of my palm had black scorch marks that ran up the whole inside of my arm to my elbow. They washed off - no burns or anything. But was quite the visual.

I have never fully trusted electricity since... but I still use several "plug it in to turn it on" items to this day. :ROFLMAO: But that little spark when you plug something into a socket? 🤬🤬🤬 Do not like that to this day! I will say every bad word I can manage in a single breath when that happens.

I don't recall it being ceramic, but likely looked a lot like this one, but artificial with that sprayed on fake paint.

My handyman laughed at me, too. Fuck it. When the new switch cover comes in, I'm still shutting off the breaker while I screw it in place.

I love it!! I can barely tell a carnation from a rose, but I'm in... I would subscribe to that thread!

Dining out w/ certain friends/family, we never speak about it but if it's lunch or dinner their lettuce garnish makes its way onto my plate... and if it's breakfast, my bacon makes it onto theirs... and everyone is happy with this arrangement. 😁

🤗 @Rj_1954 good to see you!! I missed you here. Hope you and Mrs. Rj are both doing okay. ❤️

Constantly!!!

Happy Birthday, @Qky75 🎉 🎂

Same... I really liked that Veronika video, too. Similar energy.

Hola, chica!!
Well, that's a different story... it has valiantly served you well and deserves a proper send-off.
Shopping for a replacement yet?

Yikes! Very glad you came out unscathed... especially as it took 3 hours?!?

🫂 Best of luck with the active monitoring!

Think this would work for strawberries, too? I mean - you do wash them even if their organic, right?

Note: Had to edit some quotes for the 1K char limit
Not yet... will be doing some research.... my mom said "get one with big wheels and self propelling"

The bad weather with possibility of drowning scares me to death

If you use the Lysol with bleach.
https://whatkillsit.com/dangerous-bacteria/does-lysol-kill-c-diff/#:~:text=Lysol All Purpose Cleaner with Bleach is EPA,777-83 located on the back of the bottle.
Unless they took a stool sample, the dr can't know via a Zoom call if she has it or not.🙄 Is she on antibiotics? Sometimes they will cause diarrhea.
I thought the same thing....goes along with "doesn't sound like a heart attack"

Nursing minds want to know what a heart attack sounds like....

Ahhhh...gurgle....beeeeeeeeeeeeeeep.......?
