How about construction sites in Florida, Texas and throughout the southern red states? Some of those governors are going to become agitated when their construction industries are depopulated.

I doubt we’ll see large scale activity significant enough to cause disruption to the meat packing, construction, and agriculture industries. I do expect continued government reporting on deportations, border encounters, and other immigration and border control metrics.

I expect a significant increase in arrests and deportations in comparison to prior years. Exactly how large an increase is yet to be determined. Funding will be a major determining factor. However, the figures will be nowhere close to the estimated 12 million + illegal aliens in the US. Border czar Tom Homan has been very clear about prioritization.

I also expect the deportation initiative to be a contributing factor in reducing the flow of illegal entry attempts.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum is cooperating with the Trump administration’s new policies, U.S. officials say.

The Mexican government is also setting up shelters for expelled migrants in border cities, and Sheinbaum said Mexico has already received more than 4,000 people—mostly Mexicans—deported from the U.S. since Trump’s Jan. 20 inauguration.

At the same time, Mexico has agreed to keep hosting hundreds of thousands of non-Mexican migrants seeking asylum in the U.S.—a significant concession that her government has made to the Trump administration.

In December, Border Patrol apprehensions dropped to the lowest daily average of any month during the Biden administration. Illegal border crossings continued to drop in January, U.S. officials say.
