The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

Happy Friday!!! It was warmer here yesterday - less ice bustin'. Still no baby goats. The horses managed to stage a jail break yesterday and were headed for the next county when they realized that they didn't know where they are/were. A bucket of oats and some patience and they were coaxed back home.

It'll be warm enough that the outside tasks won't suck much.

Reminds me of doing dairy in the winter................scooping shit, etc.

Been up since about 0230. Mom had a paranoid dementia episode last night. She told me that she just couldn't hold it in anymore. My girls have been sneaking out of the house at night and meeting people out by the road and talking real loud or bringing them into the house. She told me that she could see and hear them and told me what door they were using. She told me they were still out there. Sooo, I took her to their rooms and showed her that they were there and asked if they had left the house. They of course said no and she said "likely story." and harrumphed off to sit in the living room for the duration of the night. I sat up with her answering her questions about how long I had been dealing with it. Why hadn't I stopped them. Did I know the people they were meeting etc. it's gonna be a long day and I have to figure out how to protect them from all this.
She has done the same thing to the house keeper, home health care nurse and the physical therapist. Once she starts in on one of these dramatic stories she doesn't let go...ever. no matter what. The night my dad passed here at home with hospice, I stayed up with him wetting his lips with a sponge and giving him morphine drops every 2-3 hours. She still tells family that I stayed up with him to steal his morphine. The morphine bottle came up missing in the morning after he passed and the nurse told my mom she took had taken it as per protocol. She wouldn't hear it. I'm the son that tortured the last few hours of my dad's life, still.

It's not her fault but this is so hard. Do we leave when she needs us to protect my daughters? Is the damage already done and we should just ignore it? Do we try to correct her and risk her disappointment?

I've got some thinking to do for sure.

Everyone, hug those around you as your day starts. Make a great day today.

When we were building, I saw a framed area that was supposed to be something called a "coat closet." It became my pantry! 🤣🤣
I designed this one. LOTS of closets, Huge pantry, lots of storage. I hate clutter. At least you can close a door on clutter in a closet.
Huge closets are a must up north. We go from -30F to 100F. You need clothes for those temps and everything in between!
A pantry is a must, because who wants to leave the house at -30F! :ROFLMAO:

I hope you and your dr find an answer! 🫂🫂
Eh.

Visit with her yesterday. She's trying more things. She told me she's not out of ideas yet. We just need to work through them (This is something like my 14th visit to her, not including countless emails/messages). I do trust her, she's sharing her concerns and thoughts with me.

Some blood work numbers improved on their own this month. That appears to driven by inflammation, which appears to be driven by allergies, which are reduced due to winter+snow+freezing...

I went to Home Depot yesterday and there were a lot of people there complaining, to no one in particular about how cold it was. It was in the 40s. I did have my flannel jeans, wool socks and a lined hoodie on. I guess most life time FL residents don't have all the warm clothing. The lady I followed in to the store from the parking lot complained all the way.
I think our gas pumps are made in Florida! I topped off the truck tank yesterday. It was 7F. The pumps were SO slow. It took 15 minutes to pump 12 gallons of gas!

I always got the most work done going in early before everyone was there and the interruptions began. I did a lot of programming and I would shut my door, people knew I would be in a not so good mood if interupted. I unplugged the phone.
What kind of programming?

Food always is a good incentive.... silly field puppies

Ice busting is hard work... glad it is warming up for you

The nasty norovirus struck my grandchildren. My daughter said ‘stay away’ until we are done with it.

B2, get the kids well. We passed that nasty virus around just after new years. Hope they’re feeling better soon.

Mittering, I feel for you and your mother’s condition. Our family friend who passed last week, her mother is going down that road. We’ve seen it in dribs and drabs, but being around her for long stretches you can really see it. Momma was talking to her last night and they were talking about how nice the service was, and then there was a long pause and she said, “Did I tell you Cecilia died?” I’ve watched a grandmother and uncle decline. It’s tough and my heart goes out to you.

Snow still hanging around although the roads are starting to de-ice themselves. Everywhere but in the shade. Enough where we had the tribe over to celebrate my youngest son’s birthday! Got a cool recipe for Chili Colorado off the UToob, Cowboy Kent Rollins if anyone is interested. Gonna make that for the big games on Sunday I think. Will report how it goes.

Some more sunrise on the sound MZ:

Well, missed saying Good Morning, so - Good Afternoon
Busy day today...
I'll try to get this catch up out quick... busy, busy there, too
I'm sure Likes already beat me to it but here you go... 🤣🤣

You did not... thanks for the reminder of a good tune. Will listen again later 😁
(It's been playing rent free in my head all morning)
Lately, ALL. THE. TIME!!! 😤
I feel seen 👀
How much do you want to bet she skips out on the conference for touristy stuff? I si hated when "leadership" types would send themselves to conferences and do that. When I went, it was WORK!

You're right! Fuck those people! And not in the nice, exciting way! 😤🤨😖
Another non-religious Amen and Hallelujah!!
Does that mean you'll teach us some new swear words? Or that you'll listen to us swear? 🤣🤣🤣
I doubt I have much to teach, but I am happy to listen (or read) any ventings needed. Good to get that out in a healthy way so it doesn't come out all "Ground for Termination" Style
Those boys will love our cuddles! Puppy pile! 🐕🐕🐕
You'll be fine. Just remember your goal...
👀 Eyes on the Prize!!
For some reason, when I drive profanity flows from my mouth like a river! 🤣🤣🤣
You, too?!? 😁
Retirement turns out to be busy. Friday is now my day to be with my granddaughter 💜
I love your new Friday schedule!
Had a lovely dinner with some of our punk rock neighbors. There might’ve been some drinking… because at some point there was some moshing happening in our living room.
In my best Mom Voice:
Did you at least move the furniture first, W??

Most productive part of the day!!
My grandmother would say "sugar". We all knew what she meant.
One of my favorite authors, Patricia Briggs in Iron Kissed (Mercy Thompson series) IYKYK

“Cheeses crusty, got all musty, got damp on the stone of a peach,” I agreed. He looked blank, so I repeated it with proper emphasis. “ ChEEZ-zes crusty. Got Al -musty. Got DAMp on the StoneofapeaCH.”
Good morning all. Empty office today, just me and one other and he’s on the opposite end of the wing. Maybe I’ll finally get something done for once. Y’all take care and I’ll pop in later.
Yes!! That's the way to do it!!
Heading Back East in the morning.
Safe Travels, Wat

I agree with @Missk_2022 - stay away!! Stay FAR away until it's all over.
Grouse do that here. I've had them come up between my legs while skiing and snowshoeing. Imagine a completely calm, peaceful, quiet woods in the middle of winter, and having that happen right between your legs! Talk about getting the heart rate up!
Holy :poop: And I thought the Wild Turkeys were bad!!

🫂 I'm so sorry!! Not easy at any stage.
Went through something similar but not as extreme with my Aunt.
I designed this one. LOTS of closets, Huge pantry, lots of storage.
😍
Yes stay away
Agree 💯
