The AH Coffee Shop and Reading Room 09

Have the Jags won a game since then? I get confused with all the Ls piling up

Ducks! Such a peaceful bit of imagery. I'll trade you a couple of ducks for the Armadillo that's de-grubbing my lawn every night.
Don't know much about Armadillos hunting grubs. The ducks, on the other hand, have their quirks. They wander up to the patio and leave me a mess to hose off. Stinky critters. How can a few ducks leave so much crap in a few moments of crossing the yard? Well, after years of hosing, you would think I'd get used to it and stop grumbling. But what else would I have to complain about? Buddy, my Cocker Spaniel, used to chase them back to the water. These days, he and the ducks seem to be pals. Live and let live comes with old age.

Dropping by to start another pot of coffee for the night shift. I got a dozen muffins from a place called 'My Favorite Muffin.'

Holding my breath that the Bills hold on for the win.

They held on, and they get a rematch with the Chiefs.

WHAT A GAME!!!
My heart is still pounding from that contest. I know how Ravens fans feel, as a Bills fan I've been there time after time after time... And now it's down to 2 NFL teams from the 1930s and 2 of the original AFL teams - the way the gods of the oblong sphere intended football to be. Not a single expansion team left in the mix.

Caught part of the last quarter when I went home for lunch. Looked like a good game, but geez - how cold was it?

Not real cold, about +20° F / -5° C or as we call it in Buffalo: "Football Weather" (Usually by this time the Bills would have been eliminated and us kids would be playing hockey in the streets)

It's a cold morning here in the northern hemisphere and I have a hot pot of coffee going. The teapot is hot and we have some snickerdoodles on the counter.

Got some writing done but it's like pulling teeth as I fight against my natural inclination to lose interest in something after a coupe of years. I'm surprised that I've managed to stretch my writing out to five years so far but the last couple of years have been tough. I know that if I take a break from writing that I'll never pick it up again so I'm going to try to stick to it because a couple of my story lines aren't complete yet.

30° and cloudy here in warm, sunny Florida.

I'm surprised that I've managed to stretch my writing out to five years so far but the last couple of years have been tough.

I know what you mean, I published my first story here in 2006 then several more in 2008. Life intervened and I didn't get much chance to write for 10 years, I didn't post anything until 2022. Right now I'm busy writing and I have so many projects I'd rather be writing but I need to finish this one first...

Give it time, if you push it won't be fun, and that's why were' here. Writing is fun!

It's still a brisk 22 degrees outside today. Donnie doesn't like the cold when their is no snow to go with it. Ah, would that it were my only problem, making a not-yet 4-year-old understand that the world isn't out to get him with freezing temperatures.

Yeah, you and Pops both hate the cold as much as I do. Snow doesn't make the icy air any easier for me to stomach, either. I should be writing, but I'm killing time here. A murder of minutes turns into a slaughter of half an hour, then morphs into the destruction of hours!!!

I came down here to FL to escape the cold... it's 2:00 PM and it just broke 40 degrees... with ice and snow on the way tomorrow. It IS out to get me!

Never liked the cold, obviously. My Southern California heritage clearly shows in the thin blood. However, my cardiologist advised in no uncertain terms that I was absolutely not to shovel snow. No kidding. Exertion in the cold was what "brought our attention" to the heart problems; simply walking an unruly dog in sub-20° temps is what immediately preceded the trip to the ER.

Currently 14°F - up from 5° this morning - and sunny. Not like that latter part is doing much.

I almost froze a dog to death in my last story. My living room was the inspiration.
My niece in the Detroit area has a husky that doesn't want to come inside, and their temps are single digits F with snow.

That may be why my character switched from American Foxhounds to Huskies.
My step-daughter raises Great Malamutes they love the winter, during the summer they seem to hibernate near the air conditioning vents

Another bone-chilling morning here. I've got a fresh hot pot of coffee and the teapot is ready for those who want a cuppa. There is an assortment of donuts on the counter and there's a new supply of Coffee-Mate next to the coffee machine.

I got some writing done and I am feeling more confident that I will be able to get more writing done today.

My phone tells me it's 6F outside, and I need to go get the newspaper. I know some of y'all are colder than we are, but 6F is 21F below our normal low, so it's a mite chilly by local standards.

it was 30° (-1°C) when I woke up this morning, a veritable heat wave and only 15° below normal. The weather forecast is cheering me with the thought of an inch of ice covering my neighborhood - I hope my live oak trees survive, leaf covered trees do not like a coating of ice.

Took my dog to the vet expecting to get news about hip dysplasia because of the way he was walking and instead found out he has a terminal cancer diagnosis with a tumor that could rupture and kill him without notice. So we just got chicken nuggets and fries and are enjoying his favorite sun spot this afternoon before he goes across the rainbow bridge this evening to see his sister who passed two years ago.

This sucks. If you have a furball at home or just want to go find a furball at someone else home please go give them a hug for me and Deacon. He helped me fight the depression demon last year but it is time for him to rest and I will find a way forward.
